Camino De Santiago by Bike: How To Read The Camino By Bike Journal

http://caminodesantiagobybike.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-read-camino-by-bike-journal.html

Camino De Santiago by Bike. Cycling from St Jean Pied Du Port to Santiago de Compostella. Slowly. Thursday, June 23, 2011. How To Read The Camino By Bike Journal. Blogs are great, they let you record each day's travels. What they're not good at as being easy to read from start to finish as the start is at the bottom and the end at the top. To make this a little easier I've added a 'forward' link at the end of each day's riding so you can work upwards with ease. St Jean Pied Du Port. Carrion de los Condes.

Camino De Santiago by Bike. Cycling from St Jean Pied Du Port to Santiago de Compostella. Slowly. Saturday, April 14, 2007. A first aid kit is an important part of any touring cyclists packing list. Injuries tend to happen to me almost daily, and the ability to patch up, stop any bleeding, add some antiseptic and get going is essential. There's a temptation to pack everything you may need an fill a whole pannier. If you're travelling as a group you can share medical kit. Here's what we packed:.

Camino De Santiago by Bike: July 2006

Camino De Santiago by Bike. Cycling from St Jean Pied Du Port to Santiago de Compostella. Slowly. Monday, July 31, 2006. Day 14 - Palas de Rei - Santiago de Compostella. On the road to Santiago and I’m super excited. It’s a really weird feeling, although it’s hilly I haven’t much felt it, I’ve been counting off the kilometres. We’ll do 63 today to get there. When the road counters get to 100 we’ve made it. As we got closer I got faster! His mate recognised us first, to much laughter, and a curious cyclin...

Camino De Santiago by Bike. Cycling from St Jean Pied Du Port to Santiago de Compostella. Slowly. Sunday, November 05, 2006. A constant in European summer cycling pilgrimages for me has been miles and miles of sunflowers. They invariably signify that it's too hot and you're miles from the next village, so my advice is if you find yourself heading into sunflower country, check you have plenty of water and don't forget to reapply your sunscreen. Camino De Santiago by Bike: Outside Santiago Cathedral

http://caminodesantiagobybike.blogspot.com/2006/10/outside-santiago-cathedral.html

Camino De Santiago by Bike. Cycling from St Jean Pied Du Port to Santiago de Compostella. Slowly. Sunday, October 22, 2006. Here we are outside the Cathedral at Santiago. It's big and it's busy. I'm the one with the bike in the pink top. I found the Cathedral experience a little overwhelming after three weeks of quiet villages and hilltop chruches. Et your fre dnner in the 5 star parador on the square! I did, and I had not even filled in my passport. Where are you cycling this year golly gum drops?

The Way Of Saint Martin: Gien to Jargeau

http://loirevalley.blogspot.com/2008/03/gien-to-jargeau.html

The Way Of Saint Martin. Cycling The Way of Saint Martin along the Loire Valley. Slowly. Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Another bloaty breakfast, this time the apple sauce came with apricot or raspberry - I had both. We watched the rain fall and as it clearly had no intention of stopping we grimly rode out. We rolled through the rain for 30km before we reached Sully sur Loire with its fancy pants chateau in a moat. It was very fancy. This comment has been removed by a blog administrator. Cycling The Danube: August 2009

http://cyclingthedanube.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Cycling from Passau to Budapest - slowly. Saturday, 29 August 2009. Listened to the rain falling in the early hours. It wasn't comforting or encouraging. I tried to eat a good breakfast but I felt sick, I was nervous about the trip. We cycled out to St Stephans Cathedral. We were on the German side of the river looking across to Austria, we were up against the steep rocky face of a nature reserve but all we saw were slugs and snails enjoying the rain. It was easy riding with no other cyclists for 10km.

The Way Of Saint Martin: November 2006

http://loirevalley.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

The Way Of Saint Martin. Cycling The Way of Saint Martin along the Loire Valley. Slowly. Saturday, November 11, 2006. The rain in Marcigny really was torrential, and unlike other cycle pilgrimages. We've undertaken, rain became a regular factor of our trip through France. In some ways it's better than blistering sun as it does no painful damage to you, and doesn't make you ill, but it is depressing, and feeling the squidge of water between your toes as you pedal does not inspire stellar performance.

The Way Of Saint Martin: October 2006

http://loirevalley.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

The Way Of Saint Martin. Cycling The Way of Saint Martin along the Loire Valley. Slowly. Tuesday, October 17, 2006. We stopped at St Louis’ in Roanne, a big black church which looked much brighter inside. Lou settled down at an internet café to blog whilst I headed off to a popular lunchtime bakers. After trying to say “thin, atun, tuna, poisson and pesce” I eventually mimed a fish before getting tuna sandwiches. It started to drizzle so we kitted up with rain jackets for ourselves and our panniers. ...

The Way Of Saint Martin: March 2007

http://loirevalley.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

The Way Of Saint Martin. Cycling The Way of Saint Martin along the Loire Valley. Slowly. Saturday, March 24, 2007. St Agnan - Digoin. As we left town I noticed my fingers were wrinkly and my pee had been Tango so I set out to drink as much as possible. The hotel had refilled my bidons and I drank them. We got to Diou after taking a very wrong turn and ending up in a bar that supported Marseilles. But he didn’t have a phone number. Otherwise Digoin. Was our best bet. After miles of nothingness and massive...

The Way Of Saint Martin: October 2007

http://loirevalley.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

The Way Of Saint Martin. Cycling The Way of Saint Martin along the Loire Valley. Slowly. Friday, October 26, 2007. We rode back on to the canal path to Fleury sur Loire which had a bar-tabac-restaurant but it was boarded up with a tarpaulin roof. The post office was open and had a loo – hurrah! I took over as Lou is scared of cities. The ride into Nevers wasn’t too bad, we went for a good couple of miles along strip malls, outlet stores and motels before crossing the Loire into the city.

Via Francigena By Bike: Day 9 – Viterbo to Sutri

http://viafrancigena.blogspot.com/2006/08/day-9-viterbo-to-sutri.html

Via Francigena By Bike. Cycling from Luni to Rome. Wednesday, August 23, 2006. Day 9 – Viterbo to Sutri. With a spoon whilst I ate carbs galore. We set off out of town in morning traffic with a short decline and then rolling hills, no flat at all as we pedalled across ancient lava flows now covered in forest, farmland and retail parks. After a few miles we stopped for Lou to pee at a bar which had ‘bar’ written in beer caps on is mat. We bought Pringles and I got another juice. Eating home made ice cream...

Via Francigena By Bike: October 2006

http://viafrancigena.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

Via Francigena By Bike. Cycling from Luni to Rome. Friday, October 20, 2006. Cycling in the sun can send you a little squiffy. I was tempted to take this ashtray from the hostel in Siena. As I thought it had an image of the face of Jesus in it! I couldn't steal it, that has to be bad kharma (mixing my religious references for a moment), and didn't have one to exchange it for, so if you're in Siena at the Donzella. Then look out for it. Via Francigena By Bike. Cycling from Luni to Rome. Saturday, November 11, 2006. On any cycle pilgrimage food matters. Italy understands this well as pasta is perfect for topping up and restocking carbs. They also give you enough tomatoes and veggies to keep your vitamin levels high, your blood clean and happy, and your bottom on top form. As a non meat eater Italy is perfect, they don't eat meat all the time, and do fabulous things with spinach. Spain. Sunday, November 05, 2006. Does a good range of unde...
