la luz brilla en guatemala: December 2013
http://glicksguate.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). NAVIDAD 2013 AT THE GLICK'S! We were not sure what to expect for Christmas 2013 at the Glick's. Last year Sandi and I talked about the coming year. It would be the first year without any of our own children at home. We were thinking we may pass Christmas with just the two of us. 9, yes NINE, stockings full! Early in 2013 Luis joined our family, then late in the year Evelyn came to stay with us. Elizabeth was excited that Santa had come! After br...

La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). Saturday the 25th was Offy's 7th birthday, and we got to spend Sunday with her to celebrate! I picked up Offy and Wendy before we went to make the rounds picking up our 'kids' for church. All of this adds up to a little girl not doing too well, and we appreciate your prayers for her and Wendy. Yesterday when I picked them up though, Offy ran to me and gave me a big hug and was very excited. Offy enjoyed it but was not too energetic. Then inside ...

la luz brilla en guatemala: November 2013
http://glicksguate.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). Nearing the end of a month full of birthdays, we finally arrived at my. To be honest, my birthday is usually not one of my favorite days. Probably for my own expectations etc. but usually it is not a real fun day. Adding to that this would be my first birthday without any of our kids here, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Preparing to slay Tigger! I had asked Sandi for just a few people for dinner, not a lot, to just keep it low key. Then we we...

la luz brilla en guatemala: MARIA COMES HOME!
http://glicksguate.blogspot.com/2014/04/maria-comes-home.html
La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). We were super blessed the end of March to receive a visit from our daughter Maria! We of course knew a few weeks in advance but it was a surprise for everyone else here in Guatemala! Maria was struggling with a little homesickness the past couple of months and stressed with school, work and missing us. So, we hadn't planned it but we all decided it would be a good idea for her to spend her Spring Break here! I just find this a little creepy.

La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). 14 THINGS YOUR MISSIONARIES MIGHT LIKE TO TELL YOU. I wanted to share a blog post from another missionary that I don't even know. His name is Gary Shogren, and he is a missionary serving in Costa Rica. I don't even remember how I received this originally awhile back, but wanted to share it because it is pretty much right on for every missionary I have talked to about many of these things. Pastors, elders, ministry leaders, missionaries etc.

http://glicksguate.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). Just a quick update on Offy. Since the last report we have just been waiting on a few more tests to be done. The doctors are wanting to try to build her defenses up a little more so she and Wendy can go home to Chiantla, Huehuetenango for a while. Offy has had some problems with her heart the past few weeks with her pressure going up and down and her heart beating too fast or slow. They also are saying there is some air in her heart? Last Sunday...

la luz brilla en guatemala: SEMANA SANTA PICNIC!
http://glicksguate.blogspot.com/2014/04/semana-santa-picnic.html
La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). Semana Santa (Holy week) is something very special yet very different than in the USA. Here, a lot of people take the entire week off, and no schools are open. Everything else pretty much shuts down at noon on Wednesday. Then traditionally, most everybody leaves the city for the beaches or family in the departments. Literally by Thursday morning you can pretty much walk down the middle of normally busy streets. These 6 kids don't get to be toget...

la luz brilla en guatemala: September 2013
http://glicksguate.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
La luz brilla en guatemala. The light shines in guatemala). We have some really exciting news to share about Offy! As of the last tests and reports, they could not find the tumor, so our hope is that it is gone! Offy still has a little swelling on her brain from the surgery a couple of weeks ago and we should know more soon, as she is having some additional tests done today and tomorrow. However, I can report that Offy has a lot of her energy back and certainly has a good appetite! Ready to go to church!
