Remaining engaged with children who've suffered trauma is critical for their continued progress and healing. Our campers are transient, many moving often in short timeframes. We must work diligently to stay in contact, and our year-round, no-cost events and ongoing programs help to ensure continuity and consistency for youth who may lack this elsewhere in their lives. By offering fun events and activities throughout the year, we can continue relationships with their Camp friends and "family.". Camp Horiz...

Summer Camp | Camp Horizon

The Summer Camp Program. Camp Horizon changes lives, and it all starts with Summer Camp. We’re small by design, capping enrollment at 52 children per session, to maintain a personal family type atmosphere. We match each child with one volunteer mentor for the week to foster healthy relationships. Within this 1-to-1 counselor-to-camper framework, trust builds throughout the week. Along the way our campers come out of their shells, responding positively to attention, direction, guidance and affirmation.

I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver." - Maya Angelou. Look up any set of statistics on the lives of children currently or formerly in foster care and you'll see a grim picture: unemployment, homelessness, crime, teenage pregnancy, lack of educational opportunities, and more. To make matters worse, children in foster care are largely ignored or forgotten, leaving them to fend for themselves as they grow up and age out of the system. How You Can Give. Build pa...
