CAMPING ON THE EDGE. On July 4, 2013. DARK SKIES AND HIGH WIND AT THE END OF JUNE – IT FELT MORE LIKE TASMANIA. THE TURQUOISE WATERS ARE MESMERISING. Jenny and I were lucky yet again to find another great campsite nestled between the sand dunes with its own boat ramp leading straight into the bay. It was just as well we were partly sheltered because it blew and it blew and it blew, like only Exmouth knows how. LIFE’S A BEACH. JUST CAST INTO ONE OF THESE REEF HOLES DAN………. The fiery orange glow of the new dawn on the glassy water and surrounding mudflats appeared surreal and other-worldly, and as I trudged my way out onto the mud bank the violent splashes and guttural aquatic growls of a croc fight echoed down the river…….a timely reminder that I was stepping into the wild. CAMPING ON THE EDGE. On June 7, 2013. After finally getting out of Kalumburu, and the fishing gear safely stashed, we checked out some of the beautiful Gorges. We continued on the Gibb River Road to Manning Gorge. The camp ground was the start of the 1.5hr walk to the Gorge. Dan and I got up early, before anyone, so we could have the Gorge to ourselves. Such an amazing early morning swim. The colours of the rocks were spectacular. COME ON DAN……. DAN RE-LIVING HIS YOUTH. SOAKING UP THE EARLY MORNING SUN.
