A CUSO Volunteer's Adventures. Skip to primary content. Finding my way around Nekemt. October 7, 2013. Despite the fact that my last post is filled with code that I can’t seem to be able to remove, I’m taking another crack at sharing some of the things of my town, Nekemt, in the west of Ethiopia. I wandered around the campus at the Teacher Training College last week and took some photos to get a better sense of the place. I have a lot of studying to do. Here is the main street that runs the length of the...

Serious Fun at Camp and far away! Wry thoughts of a meanderer →. August 20, 2013. 8220;Mine” and its adjunctives developed a deep.meaning for me this summer. The thing about “mine” and “my” is tgat they denote a degree of possession, a degree of ownership. To have ownership or possession of something you need to buy, earn, or develop the right of ownership to. Own something nowadays. And I’d like to think I did the latter this summer. So I’ve concluded that. I know your thinking its impossible for me to ...

Serious Fun at Camp and far away! June 4, 2013. For 23 years now I have largely been a robin. A steadfast homegrown native content and thriving in what Eire has to offer. But in less than 36 hours I’ll be on my first solo flight, and become a swallow. Destined t travel thousands of miles over several days. But then I also assessed how only me left shin and jaw really had any encounter and the rest of me is as fit as ever! So I’m also feeling a little invincible! I’ve now taken a hold of that feelin...

Serious Fun at Camp and far away! My Home →. August 1, 2013. Two weeks down and 5 to go! And I’ve seen a lot of changes. Two weeks of orientation with my fabulous co-workers and two weeks of camp and I’ve seen us change as we got to know each other better, once the kids arrived and both on and off camp. It’s definitely something special, and a lovely experience to share with this group of people. We are summer staff 2013. Changes in our volunteers, and most importantly, the kids. Not At Camp Korey. Wry t...

Serious Fun at Camp and far away! Monthly Archives: March 2016. Wry thoughts of a meanderer. March 28, 2016. We’ve left Ireland with 2 months now, and due to the lack of constant Internet access and the fact that Facebook has fast become the new tumbler/advertising forum, I didn’t post all those thoughts that came to me at the time that they did. So I compiled them, written at first, and now I’m posting […]. Wry thoughts of a meanderer. On leaving the nest. Leggs Lanigan on leaving the nest.

Serious Fun at Camp and far away! Wry thoughts of a meanderer. March 28, 2016. Below are many of the thoughts that crossed my mind in the last 2 months, iI hope none of them are too appalling. F#ck We’re gone 2 months already. *home sickness pang*. I am so immensely proud to be Irish. And thinking of everything that this means fills email with delight. Airports can be really good. Or really bad. And I have no emotional differentiation to either. All of them will be stressful. Cockroaches gross me out.
