C2C Canada 2008: (Mark) My photos

http://canadac2c.blogspot.com/2008/09/mark-my-photos.html

Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Hey all, so I'm back in Victoria, it sure is nice to be able to take a shower in my own bathroom again! I have sorted my photos and put them online, you can see them here:. Http:/ picasaweb.google.com/notsewkram. And finally, this is a selection of my photos, so if you (really) want to see all of them I can show them to you, but so as not to bore you too much I culled them for the web. Posted by Mark Weston. C2C Canada 2008: May 2008

http://canadac2c.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 30, 2008. May 29 and 30, Day 23 and 24: Playing tag with the prairie winds, rain, and sun. May 29: 86km from Shaunavaun to Ponteix, Saskatchew. Today dawned clear and sunny and we saw the standard prairie summer. Weather - patchy clouds materialized in the morning, the heat came on. About lunchtime, and in the late afternoon a few rainstorms appeared. And rampaged around (thankfully missing us, and we were in camp by. Then) We went north for 10km and turned east on Hwy 13 and went due. To get...

C2C Canada 2008: April 2008

http://canadac2c.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Out for a Training Ride. Mary approaching Munn Rd. Originally uploaded by Calypso Orchid. I hope we are FINALLY done with the snow! A howling blizzard blew through this very spot on April 19 - the day before we came through on a leisurely "training" ride. I hope we don't have too many snow storms on our trip - but I suspect we will have several nights of snow-camping (Manning Park summit for one). Check out their blog at seatosea08.blogspot.com. C2C Canada 2008: (M+M) Dipping the wheels in the Atlantic

http://canadac2c.blogspot.com/2008/08/mm-dipping-wheels-in-atlantic.html

Sunday, August 24, 2008. M M) Dipping the wheels in the Atlantic. Dipping the Wheels in the Atlantic. Originally uploaded by Calypso Orchid. But, the thing that indicated the trip was complete with goals met was dipping the wheels of our bikes into the water in St. John's. But where to do it? We had to cross private property to gain the Quidi Vidi water, and were invited to do so by the land owner. He then had us into his house to look at photos of others who used his harbour side to launch, finish, ...

Sunday, November 9, 2008. Maps, Routes, and Stats. The Canada C2C trip is finished and we have all been going over our route maps, trip info, pictures, and trip statistics in order to prepare a trip overview. It has been fun looking back and preparing this overview. It makes me, for one, wish we were back out on a long ride into the wide blue yonder! Overview of the route. Aiden and Tyler Bike Across Canada: A More Elaborate Conclusion Entry

http://bikecanada.blogspot.com/2008/08/more-elaborate-conclusion-entry.html

Aiden and Tyler Bike Across Canada. Monday, August 25, 2008. A More Elaborate Conclusion Entry. Well it has been over a week since Tyler and I have returned to our respective bases in Calgary and Brampton so I guess it’s about time for a more complete conclusionary entry. To start I will recall how Newfoundland was won. We found time later that afternoon to dip our wheels in Quidi Vidi Harbour which was our official end to the journey. That night we partied and got screeched in. August 26, 2008 at 1:23 PM.

Back of Beyond: A Wee Sail in the Western Isles - Arisaig to Isle of Eigg

http://maryslens.blogspot.com/2011/08/wee-sail-in-western-isles-arisaig-to.html

Tuesday, August 2, 2011. A Wee Sail in the Western Isles - Arisaig to Isle of Eigg. The opening to Loch nan Ceall, Arisaig. Mike was much better than me with the lines. I would say my biggest claim to nautical fame was helping get the cover back on the spinnaker sail – kind of like stuffing a giant sausage into a flapping casing. I was also adept at helping get the anchor up. But that was just about the extent of my sailing prowess. Irene and Al on top of An Sgurr, Eigg. An Sgurr on Eigg. In a larger map.

Sunday, August 28, 2011. A Wee Stravaig through the Crianlarich Hills. We've been to the area three times and accessed all start and end points via the bus and Shank's mare. Ben More and Stob Binnein brought us out for a beautiful day in early June (reported on in A Scotland Season - June 3. Mist rising off Cruach Ardrain. But, I digress - More and Binnein, with their ease of access, and straightforward, if somewhat strenuous approaches, are hiking magnets, while the other five are not so busy. Proba...

Saturday, July 27, 2013. Queen of the Castle. Queen for a day: Mary on top of Castle Mountain, views east down the Bow Valley. Castle Mountain from just off the TCH. Castle Mountain is, perhaps, one of the most iconic symbols in the Banff National Park pantheon of peaks. Driving down the Trans Canada Highway visitors see the south west slopes of the mountain rising, like a fortified medieval castle, almost straight up from the valley. Eisenhower Tower above Tower Lake. Summit views: Rockbound Lake. Comin...

Aiden and Tyler Bike Across Canada: August 2008

http://bikecanada.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Aiden and Tyler Bike Across Canada. Thursday, August 28, 2008. Number of tires replaced. Number of busted tubes. Aiden- 7 (1 pincher 6 flats). Tyler- 1 (1 bust valve stem 1 flat). We figured the reason for the difference here is that I weigh more so I put more pressure on my tires . Number of brake pads replaced. Aiden- 3 pairs (though I replaced another 2 pairs when I got to Ontario.). Tyler- 1 pair (he had disc brakes as opposed to rim brakes so generally they were less fuss and worked better.). D) Lay...

Cruachan has been a mountain of interest for me since I first saw it back in 2007. Mike and I, along with friends Jan and Alan, were doing a fall bike ride through the Western Islands and Highlands. The weather cooperated and at a grassy beach. Map of our route:. View Ben Cruachan - Aug 31, 2011. In a larger map. Bigadore post...

Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Two-stepping to Tent Ridge. Lisa and Mike on the west arm of Tent Ridge looking back at our hike and scramble. Kananaskis Country - what the folks who live in south-west Alberta refer to as K-Country - is the place where the locals go to play. Full of glorious Rocky Mountains, K-Country has all the vistas, views, and trails of the Mountain Parks, but almost none of the National Park tourists. Mary below Mt. Smuts on the ridge high point. Storm in the north over Spray Lakes.
