Adventures on the Canal. Day 1: Liverpool to Wheelton. So, the day finally arrived and we made it to Liverpool and started our journey at 09:45:. Not sure where the 1st marker was. The ride through Liverpool was smooth and pleasant and we managed to strike it lucky with the weather. We stopped for our first break at the Ship Inn in Lathom at around 11:20:. Adventures on the Canal. Route: Chorley to Skipton (and back). So the morning finally arrived. and in true British weather style it was raining! Not heavy rain, but the stuff that, although you can hardly see it, it seems to drench you in next to no time. I'd packed my panniers the night before and they weighed in at 10.5kg. We set off at 10:00 am and got two minutes down the road before I decided I'd cover my panniers with the waterproof covers and put on my waterproof jacket. I've shrunk in the rain!

Adventures on the Canal. Thursday, 30 April 2015. I've cycled up and down the Leeds and Liverpool canal for over 20 years now and I've always said I'd do the full length one day. The only trouble has been finding someone else to do it with as I never fancied doing it on my own. I also want to do it over two or three days with a couple of nights camping along the way, meaning the bikes would be carrying sleeping bags, mats, tent etc. We have already had a couple of runs along the canal for some practice:.

Adventures on the Canal. Saturday, 2 May 2015. Route: Rufford to Chorley. The ride started off with decent weather and the 10 mile journey to the start of the canal part was a pleasant ride through Ecclestone and Mawdesley. The Rufford branch was as bumpy as it always is and the ride towards Parbold was a scenic as ever. We came across a group of DofE'ers heading towards Parbold who were kitted out with rucksacks almost as big as they were! Relaxing at Parbold Coffee Shop. My new Merlin Malt 4.
