CancerVivor: August 2011

Tuesday, August 9, 2011. My buddy Jim needs your help. 65279;. Not the best image of Jim Solomons, but he's working. 65279; My friend Jim isn't asking for any help, and he is in need of nothing physical. But he needs your help. In the form of prayer, well wishes, positive thoughts, good vibes or whatever you want to call it. And he needs this karma now. That was the first time we'd met face to face. As he was preparing to leave Florida Hospital. We'd known one another from the z...Since...

CancerVivor: November 2011

http://cancervivor.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 28, 2011. The birthday that almost wasn't. This truly is the birthday that almost wasn't. A little over four years ago, after my diagnosis of esophageal cancer that September, I questioned whether I'd make it to age 50, let alone 52. I remember telling myself over and over that failure was not an option. Going through chems and rads, then the intense surgery were better than the alternative, which was basically a quick death via starvation. After that was recovery, return to work and my ...

http://cancervivor.blogspot.com/2012/06/almost-5-years-and-counting.html

Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Almost 5 years, and counting. With that random, yet holy, date of five years looming just six months away, I received some great news from Long Island oncologist Dr. Paul Hyman of Bay Shore on the Great South Bay. 65279;. 65279; And though I tried to avoid doctors most of my life, it all caught up with me in September 2007, when I was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus, which until that year was pretty much a death sentence, killing 87 percent of t...

CancerVivor: December 2010

http://cancervivor.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 6, 2010. Three years, and counting. So, I'm in the office on Friday with oncologist Dr. Lee Zehngebot and he raised a very important point during the brief exam: "You know, it's been three years.". Those are three years I didn't believe I would have; I consider them bonus years. That's because when I first met Dr. Z, I didn't think I'd have much longer to live and, frankly, I didn't know if I'd want to live the tortured life I feared and envisioned. Still, I'm beating the odds just by be...

This trip around the sun - I think these things so you dont have to. Elizabeth Maupin on Theater. On A Clear Day I Can Read Forever. 30 December 2013 @ 03:57 pm. This trip around the sun. For me, 2013 has been a year to forget. It started off confusing, which morphed into shocking and hurtful before careening along at a nice meh pace for months. So I am more than ready to kick this year to the curb. But I will say thanks to those who helped make those moments. They know who they are.

So much for checking in more . - I think these things so you dont have to. Elizabeth Maupin on Theater. On A Clear Day I Can Read Forever. 04 September 2013 @ 05:28 pm. So much for checking in more . Clearly, as previously mentioned, 2013 has not exactly been a year of my knowing whats going on. You know, on things like trying to keep track of myself, much less my reading. Book 10: Burial For A King - Rebecca Burns. Worth it. Book 11: Ready Player One - Ernest Cline. Very worth It.

I think these things so you dont have to. Elizabeth Maupin on Theater. On A Clear Day I Can Read Forever. 31 October 2013 @ 02:24 pm. So, Im not in costume this year. In fact, I dont go in costume most years. One of the most wonderful nights of my childhood. I know most folks think he looks more ursine, but this was a dog-man to my little brain. I immediately made my pitch for a Chewie costume for Halloween. Id never had a store-bought costume before and knew neither me nor my non-crafty mother would...

I assume that's partly because he was the person who took most of the photos back then. 1 comment Leave a comment.

December 4th, 2013 - I think these things so you dont have to. Elizabeth Maupin on Theater. On A Clear Day I Can Read Forever. 04 December 2013 @ 03:17 pm. I just got back from an extended trip to Ohio, my usual return home for Thanksgiving and my birthday. This year, though, there was a different focus: Moms surgery. It took a lot of energy and time, but with my pressure and the presence of two anesthesiologists, she made it through pretty well. Shes still on the mend but can heal from home.

Skip to search - Accesskey = s. Latest Brain Tumor advisory: Slightly less Grizzly. By Sean Holton on July 12, 2011. Today I got to see the results from my Monday (7/11/2011) MRI scan . The report I received from my neuro-oncologistbwas better than anything I would have allowed myself to hope for going in. My worst fear was that the neurological decline and increasing left-side weakness have experienced since my last scan in May (see Scaring the Neighbors 2: Meet Half Ass. Of what, exactly?
