During the opening circle it was evident that they were interested in Outward Bound and the work we do, as they too are involved in various community development projects. Sedgefield, the Garden Route town situated between Knysna and George in the Western Cape is Africa’s first Cittaslow or ‘Slow Town’, says its founding member André Gauché. Cittaslow, meaning literally “slow city” and inspired by the concept of “slow food”, was a world-wide membership organisation promoting quality of life and resisting fast-lane lifestyle, he said. A Cittaslow town’s population was not allowed to exceed 50, 000.

It was that time of the year and with all the new rules and regulations coming into force it was quite a nerve wracking time to say the least.
