It was the day every pet person knows is inevitable. I put Shimmer to sleep. Those that visit Schuylkill Veterinary Hospital may remember Shimmer as the older chocolate Labrador that hung out at the front desk until recently. She’s been failing, so had to stay home of late. I quickly finished up and took her home. I wish I lived in the deep south many mornings. But, my animals don’t seem to mind it like I do. Some even seem to like it! The dogs, well, they are Labs. What can I say? I am thinking that one day I, too, will learn to appreciate the cold. But for now, all I can do is stay in a warm house with cats and dogs to huddle with and wait until spring.

For example, when the air temperature is 77 degrees, asphalt in the sun is about 125 degrees! How to Have a Well Behaved Dog. Serving Schuylkill County Pets for 25 Years. I’ve been a Labrador breeder for quite a while now. Always on a small scale, I have produced dogs with the goal of health, temperament , trainability, and classic Labrador looks. Most of my puppies go to families as beloved pets. But, over the years, I have donated puppies to service dog programs to be trained to help people with disabilities. Denny, you were a wonderful dog. You made me very proud. RIP.
