Before she took the surname Cann, Beatrice Thelma Bradley (otherwise known as Essie Bradley) was was snake handler known as Cleopatra. Born in Tasmania in 1907, she started performing shows when she was 13 - after she moved to Hobart to live with her mother's brother, Tasman Bradley. From the age of 13 she performed shows as Cleopatra, and by the age of 16 she began performing with venomous snakes. They married the following year in 1925, when she was 18 and George was 27. From the moment he was born in 1927, George Cann Junior was surrounded by snakes. In the 1938 video Fangs of Death. You can see George playing with pythons and blue tongue lizards. Service on HMS Kanimbla during WW2. George joined the Australian Navy when he turned 18. He joined on 7 August 1945, and eight days later on August 15 the Japanese Imperial Forces surrendered. George was assigned a role as a nursing orderly private on the HMS Kanimbla. From father to son. Starring Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman.
