I've sanded it back to bare wood and bleached it using a 2-part wood bleach. I shall be oiling/varnishing it with Deks Olje D2 when I get some delivered. I've removed all the little ash hatch toggles, sanded them back to bare wood and applied the first of about 8 coats of International Compass varnish which is the coating I will eventually use on the decks. Does it really hurt to show the thing a hose. As a result, the tiller extension has corroded in places. The worst bit was the narrowest part that attaches to the tiller. Firstly, why do people remove fittings from boats but not bother to fill the holes that are left. I'm of the impression that boats are better when they are as watertight as possible.
