It feels amazing to have done this. To be honest, I was terrified at times but you just have to try to switch your mind off. Carina Bruwer Danger Point. When I get into the water I invite the cold in, put it in a little metal box and leave it there and that's where it stays. The grail of long swims in South Africa is from Robben Island to the mainland - either Three Anchor Bay or Blouberg. Worldwide the success rate for crossing the Channel is 16%, but for South Africans training here it is almost 100%.
