Chapter News and Events. Chapter Representatives participate in ceremonies. Battle of Kettle Creek. Commemorated every february in Washington GA. Parade from the Mary Willis Library to the Town Square in Washington, GA. Click on thumbnails for larger images. Ceremonies on the Square include a musket salute and Living History presentations, as well as musket carrying exercises for youngsters and colonial era games. Members of the Collins Chapter attend with their wives.

Chapter News and Events. SAR Compatriots Encourage Scouting. 150 letters are sent annually to Eagle Scouts in the area to make them aware of the scholarship opportunities through the SAR. From these letters we hope to get numerous responses for entries into the competition. Captain John Collins Chapter sends out more invitation letters to Scouts than any other chapter in the state. Members are working with area BSA Districts to streamline this communication to the Scouts.

Chapter News and Events. Next, he enlisted in Captain Benjamin Hardin’s Company of the North Carolina Militia commanded by Colonel Charles McDowell. He served from September 1779 as Orderly Sergeant under Captain John G. Lowman and Colonel Hampton. Immediately afterwards, he was a Private, Sergeant, and Sergeant-Major under Captain John G.
