On Saturday 23 July this year over 100 yachts sailed from Darwin to participate in, Sail Indonesia, the biggest and boldest multi-sailing event in all of Asia. Skippers from many countries (even landlocked Switzerland) sail their yachts to Darwin and then jump to action when the starting gun booms across the waters of Darwin Harbour. Sail Indonesia 2016 Rally Enter Now. It is a big deal for the people of these remote coastal villages when a large fleet of gleaming yachts anchors in their bay. Yachties are welcome to participate in all events and anchor at all the programmed stopovers but you do not have to participate in all the fun as there is simply not be enough time to do so. At each stopover there will be officials dedicated with task of providing the yachties with advice and hospitality. Stopover in Bali is Lovina.

The CAPTAIN STURT MARINA complex is located just east of the railway crossing on Liverpool Road in Goolwa. The marina has grown around the wreck of the P.S. Captain Sturt - the paddle wheel, still visible in the marina, is a reminder of this history. The PS Captain Sturt was used in barging materials in the contruction of several upstream locks in the 1930's and 40's.
