He United States Daughters of 1812, founded in 1892, is a volunteer women’s service organization whose members are lineal descendants of Americans who provided civil, military, or naval service to the United States between 1784-1815. The Captain William Magill Chapter was organized and chartered in 2015. Many of the organizing officers are pictured with the Pennsylvania State Society President at our organizing meeting in May 2015. The group met just steps from a mansion owned by William Magill.

Embership is available to women age 18 and over who can offer satisfactory proof that they are lineal descendants of an ancestor who, during the period of 1784-1815 inclusive, rendered civil, military, or naval service to our country, rendered material aid to the U.S. Army or Navy, or who participated in the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Captain William Magill and the Bucks County Rangers. Illiam Magill was the son of Robert Magill, a Scots-Irish immigrant born in the north of Ireland. Robert and his brother Henry arrived in America around 1760 and settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The brothers operated a mercantile business opposite Doyle’s’ Tavern. William married Mary Morris in March 1801. She was the daughter of Benjamin Morris, a next-door neighbor. They had five children. Marion T. Lane, Ed.D.
