Got a hankering for a nice FT casserole but didn't make it the night before- try this one. Took me an hour and it is delish! 5 cups bread cubes. 1 1/2 cups milk. 1/4 cup white sugar, divided. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1 tablespoon margarine, softened. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. It was handed down to her from her mom, so the measurements are a little. inprecise. :). Take 1 large can (48 oz? Crushed pineapple, two small cans (11 oz each) mandarine oranges and drain them. Adapted from Cooks Illustrated - I can't find the whole, actual recipe online, but I found this one, and it's really close :) With Sweet Corn in season right now, we've made this a couple times and it's FANTASTIC! 10 ears of fresh corn. 1 piece of bacon. 2 cloves of garlic. 3 C chicken broth. 4 medium red potatoes (scrubbed and cut in 1/4 inch pieces). 1 C half and half. 1 pinch of sugar. Salt and pepper to taste.
