I've selected just a few of the zillions of photos we took - which was hard to do, since there's a postcard-worthy picture just waiting to be taken around every corner! Lido has canals like Venice but feels more relaxed and like a sea-side resort - one side looks to the lagoon (seen here), and the other side is beaches on the Adriatic (we even swam one afternoon, the water was about 78 degrees and felt refreshingly perfect). Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Nico preparing hors d'oeuvres canapés.(spread with guacamole and tarama). Michael slicing sausage snacks. The appetizer spread (the grape/cheese cube toothpicks were my contribution to the evening). Pizza ready for the oven! Monday, February 28, 2011. We just got back from a week in the Alps, during the boys' winter break from school. We met up with two other families and had a really nice time together, skiing, eating and drinking (and eating). For those of you on Facebook (ahem! Feel free to ignore these, they're the exact same pictures ;-). Lunch break in a chalet at the bottom of the slopes. Restaurant dinner. It's been in bloom for about 2 weeks already, and I've been hoping and praying that it would stay pretty until the folks' arrival.tomorrow! Sunday, February 26, 2012. So, here we are on our first day of skiing. This was the only day it snowed, which was fortunate. Since I don't think the" icicle-hair" look was very good on any of us! My parents joined us for a couple days, and enjoyed the mountain scenery. Nico and Michael participated in their first slalom race (along with Alain and assorted Rolland cousins, young and old). But no slalom nonsense for me of course. Here I am in my element on a nice, scenic, FLAT slope! In with the new!

Monday, October 17, 2011. Disney fun with cousin Brian. My cousin Brian has been visiting us in France these past 2 weeks, and as a die-hard Disney fan, one of the must-do's on his list was a trip to Disneyland Paris. French cousin Pauline hadn't been to the park since she was a baby, so we took her as well. We couldn't have been luckier with the weather, and spent a long, exhausting but fun-filled day. Can you tell how excited Brian is to finally be here? These pics were all taken at the Studios park).

Wednesday, May 18, 2011. My dad just turned 69 last week, so we had a nice little celebration in their backyard to kick off the season! Birthday presents, including a "garden boar" (think garden gnome) that I found at the store and that we all have fallen in love with. He's the new backyard mascot, keeping watch over passing neighborhood cats. The obligatory family portrait. The flowering bush behind us smells absolutely gorgeous, and we can't for the life of us figure out what kind of plant it is.
