Climate Change, Energy, Buildings. Friday, 14 December 2007. Christmas is with us with all the environmental damage it causes. However, the admirable trend to forgo sending cards for friendly emails may be being offset by the generous use of the cc: button. In our fight against spam, we should not send messages to long lists of cc:'s. I, on the other hand, knowing these to be quality addresses, will sell them for a good price to the Nigerians.). The better and simple option is to use bcc:. E-cards are al...

Climate Change, Energy, Buildings. Monday, 30 May 2011. The value of an 80% carbon reduction. Few people seem to appreciate the scale of change that is required if we are going to meet the carbon reduction targets needed to prevent climate chaos. And I founded Cambridge Carbon Footprint. There are a number of reasons why this can be counter productive. To begin with, I suspect a lot of talk about details is prevarication, avoiding the actual work of making reductions. While it is important to get...About...

Climate Change, Energy, Buildings. Tuesday, 15 July 2008. Conservation and renewable energy. I get a number of enquiries about energy in the home. My best advice is to do a Cambridge Carbon Footprint "Foot print group" http:/ www.cambridgecarbonfootprint.org/#CCG. As a follow up to the groups, which spend an evening taling about energy in the home, we also provide a network of contacts to support chanbe and a 'House Doctor' scheme were various experts can provide advice and practicle help. Climate Change, Energy, Buildings. Monday, 27 December 2010. As a guardian reader with a log burning stove, it seems an obvious synergy to burn the huge pile of paper that collects each week. Here is my simple recipe for paper logs. To ensure the paper burns slowly and efficiently, it must be made in to a tight roll. Folding the paper in 4 and rolling the sports section first and then the supplement creates a tight core and the rest is easy to roll around that. From the Centre for Alternative Techn.

Climate Change, Energy, Buildings. Sunday, 28 November 2010. Should I install PV solar panels? This is my "Ask Andy" contribution to the Cambridge Carbon Footprint. Last Saturday the Guardian devoted a four page supplement to the Feed-In. Tariff, the scheme that earns you money for installing photovoltaic. Solar panels on your roof. "Fit" as it is known, guarantees you 41p for. Every unit of electricity the panels generate, as well as the 14p you. Save from not having to buy the electricity. Yes – ...
