'59 topps: one f/g card at a time: #537 Rodolfo Arias
http://59toppsblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/537-rodolfo-arias.html
A look at my collection of 1959s. Every card has a story. Saturday, March 8, 2014. If you're going to play only one season of major league baseball you might as well make it a season that ends up with a World Series, right? And so it was with lefty pitcher Rodolfo 'Rudy' Arias. A Cuban native he had pitched in his home country for several years before signing with the Chicago White Sox in 1953 as a 22 year old. He was back in the minors in 1960 and moved through several organizations, never resurfacing i...

More cards to go before we put it to bed. Labels: 1960 World Series. February 22, 2016 at 10:57 PM. Old school Oriole ...

'59 topps: one f/g card at a time: #74 Directing The Power
http://59toppsblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/74-directing-power.html
A look at my collection of 1959s. Every card has a story. Monday, June 13, 2011. 74 Directing The Power. How did Jim Lemon hit homers with those sadly underdeveloped guns? How did Roy Sievers even play with chunks of his head missing. How did Cookie Lavagetto keep that Senators' beret on his head? And most pressing in my mind. how did Topps' photo editor keep his job with shoddy work like this? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Five Tool Collector. A look at my collection of 1959s. Every card has a story. Friday, March 14, 2014. And That's A Wrap. Writing this blog has been a wonderful learning experience. The 1959 Topps set held many more stories than I even imagined when I started it back in February of 2011. It began with a posting of my Brooks Robinson card. A few closing thoughts:. Obsession with the stadiums seen in the photos used in this set. Most of the stadiums can be ID'd pretty easily. But I didn't keep a running tab on them....And I...

Roger Carr was the most morose appearing player I've ever seen...

A look at my collection of 1959s. Every card has a story. My Favorite Non-Oriole Baseball Cards. These cards are in my collection and are my pick as favorites. As you can tell 'condition' doesn't play too big a part in what I enjoy. 1961 Topps Roger Maris MVP. 1959 Topps Bob Gibson Rookie. Gibson is a favorite of mine and this is a card that survived from my childhood. I'm glad too because it's a high $ card if I had to buy it for my '59 set. Love the pink frame. 1909 T206 Christy Mathewson, et al. This ...

'59 topps: one f/g card at a time: Most Wanted
http://59toppsblog.blogspot.com/p/most-wanted.html
A look at my collection of 1959s. Every card has a story. Now that I've finished the 1959 Topps set I'm adding cards I like of players I collect. I'm not a "completist", I don't think that really possible anymore with all the things that have been manufactured and the untold variations. This is a list of individual cards I's really like to acquire. I've tried to include only 'reasonable wants'. I can't expect to come across an affordable Mantle rookie or a T206 Wagner. 1) A Sadaharu Oh Menko card. I'm a ...

'59 topps: one f/g card at a time: #439 Brooks Robinson

A look at my collection of 1959s. Every card has a story. Sunday, February 13, 2011. Is entitled "Bring On The Pizazz". The set was a departure for Topps and it features some elements I always like on cards, bright colors and team logos. I'll discuss more of this great set and my reasons for this collection in future posts but first things first. the Brooks Robinson. On 'white' cardboard. The cartoon on the back is pretty hum-drum. But we'll see some really good ones as the blog unfolds. Http:/ number5ty...
