Blast Shields Down: I'm Not the Man They Think I Am at Home
http://blastshieldsdown.blogspot.com/2010/07/im-not-man-they-think-i-am-at-home.html
Friday, July 23, 2010. I'm Not the Man They Think I Am at Home. But I have to admit that the new book Shatnerquake by bizarro fiction author Jeff Burk looks pretty amazing. Here's what Amazon has to say about it. William Shatner. WILLIAM SHATNER! It's the first ShatnerCon with William Shatner as the guest of honor! I'm not going to lie, I don't have much to say besides that, because really, what else can be said. Consider this a must buy. July 23, 2010 at 9:32 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Blast Shields Down: Categorically Opposed
http://blastshieldsdown.blogspot.com/2010/05/categorically-opposed.html
Thursday, May 20, 2010. What about The Gunslinger by Stephen King? Is it a western or fantasy? What genre is Firefly? Saving Private Ryan. Romantic Comedy. Groundhog Day (or is that sci-fi too? Alternate History. The Man in the High Castle. Mystery? Sherlock Holmes. The the only real criteria I have is whether or not it's any good. Isn't that what matters? Shouldn't 1984 be in Science Fiction? Or All Quiet on the Western Front in historical novels? So, I will continue reading literature, which really amo...

Blast Shields Down: Box Score
http://blastshieldsdown.blogspot.com/2007/05/box-score.html
Tuesday, May 8, 2007. 8220;I’m reading the box score, Scully. You’d like it; it’s like the Pythagorean Theorem for jocks. It distills all the chaos and action of any game in the history of all baseball games into one tiny, perfect rectangular sequence of numbers. I can look at this box, and I can recreate exactly what happened on some sunny, summer day back in 1947. Game of statistics, the game of numbers. I learned what all those funny acronyms and abbreviations stood for, and what they meant. I learned...

Blast Shields Down: And as I am Peering down Springs Blouse...
http://blastshieldsdown.blogspot.com/2007/05/and-as-i-am-peering-down-springs-blouse.html
Monday, July 9, 2007. And as I am Peering down Springs Blouse. Why will I continue to search for meaning in a seemingly meaningless universe? Why must I reject those beautiful bouts of chaos? They hit me like pleasant strokes, bubbles in the brain-at the park last summer they floated through that cramped air and sun streaked sky. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Blast Shields Down: A Green Lantern
http://blastshieldsdown.blogspot.com/2010/05/green-lantern.html
Monday, May 3, 2010. Earlier I saw some concept images for the upcoming (2011) Green Lantern movie and it got me thinking. Wouldn't this make a better science fiction movie than it would a super-hero movie? The problem is of course that Sci-Fi is both a genre and a topic. Because of this the distinction between what is. Science fiction and what is about. An aspect of science fiction is sometimes difficult to tell. Stephen King has a book ( Danse Macabre. If we are going to hold on to antiquated organizat...

Blast Shields Down: A Siren's Call
http://blastshieldsdown.blogspot.com/2007/04/sirens-call.html
Sunday, April 22, 2007. I wrote this a few months ago, and while I have already released it onto the web, I figured I’d post it here with a few minor revisions so that it can be with the brethren that sprung from it. Because, it’s the spark that started this whole thing, at least for me. It began like this… and everything sort of took off from there. I never write anymore, I used to, constantly. I wrote a lot, it was soothing, cathartic, and my company in the dark, me, my mind and the screen. It is as if...

Blast Shields Down: Sodom and Gomorrah
http://blastshieldsdown.blogspot.com/2010/05/sodom-and-gomorrah.html
Thursday, May 13, 2010. I have never really understood the use of Sodom and Gomorrah as an argument against homosexuality, not that I truly understand using the Bible as an argument for or against much of anything. The entire story is pretty crazy. the town is full of rapists who want to fuck anything that moves, yet I'm supposed to believe that the problem God has with the place is homosexuality? I'm not arguing that the passage supports. May 17, 2010 at 2:22 PM. My first novel uses the Sodom/Gommorah i...
