Friday, December 03, 2004. The last day (of class). Yup, it is that time of the semster. the last day of classes. One exam to give and then a nice dive into a torrent of grading. the nice thing about the end of the semester is that despite the crunch of work to finish for my classes is that I am more energized to plow into research. Teaching has definite rewards, though it also reduces time to spend on research, the next month will have those two flipped around. Change is a good thing.

Saturday, November 21, 2009. Again, another quick update with this week's exploits. Daredevil sliding down our playset. Christmas craft making with Daddy. Playing in a bucket of cornmeal in the kitchen. And today's big accomplishment.figuring out how to get that whistle thing to work! Thursday, November 19, 2009. Busy, busy, busy! Lots going on here in Chi-town. Nearing the end of the semester [and yes, we are counting down the lectures! Goose-viewing from the safety of our nifty wagon. Busy, busy, busy!

Wednesday, February 3, 2010. No, I don't know why the videos keep getting messed up. I just fixed the one of him walking last night, and it's already broken again. Grrr. Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Riley got a fabulous box-o-gifts from his Uncle Dane and Stacey [living in Taipei] today. Upon opening we found a great hat [see below] and a funny squid puppet! We had a bit of a hat event! He's wearing my winter hat underneath this fancy straw hat that came in the box. He's also clutching the photos here.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Here's a shot of the B-17 in flight, over the back of the P-40. And here's the Liberty Bell pouring jet fuel on this nice man. The fire department was called. One house had 4 big trees topped off in it's front yard. Here's two topped trees. The evergreens seemed to take it especially hard. We got lucky that the two in the neighbor's yard didn't come down on us too. Every yard in the block had branches if not full trees down. The curb was a levee of broken limbs.

Tuesday, January 12, 2010. We're Doomed.part 2. Yesterday, Riley took his first few tentative steps between a table and the baby gate, without any suggestion from us. Today, he's walking a good 10ft with confidence. How does that happen so fast? It's actually a little strange to see him moving this way, I'm so used to seeing him crawling and cruising. And now I leave you with this parting shot, of mischief in action. Saturday, January 2, 2010. Sleep is for the healthy. Rew put him to work right away.

Monday, June 21, 2010. We've had a couple of nice culinary adventures as well. The food here is basically your typical Mediterranean style food. The real fun is in the deserts and sweets! Yesterday, we chanced upon a great find down a side street where there weren't any tourists. Riley made fast friends with a little girl who came over to our table to visit. Monday, August 16, 2010. Home Again and Last Good Summer Getaway. Wow, how the summer flies by! That probably has something to do with the fact that I spend most of it doing field work! We're back from our Yellowstone adventure, all in one piece and I even managed to get some great samples!
