The World As I See It: Istanbul
http://jeffreymahn.blogspot.com/2007/11/blog-post.html
The World As I See It. Monday, August 27, 2007. To Istanbul. Today Istanbul with its skyline studded with domes and minarets, is home to 14 million of the 68 million people living in Turkey. Lined with hip restaurants, cafes and bars where both men and women crowded the streets. The later the hour, the more crowded the pedestrian mall became. However, several people who ventured out of the tourist areas told me that they only saw men on the streets. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The World As I See It. Friday, November 30, 2007. However, once the students got to Dunedin this past year, riots broke out. That is not to say that the Undie 500 participants rioted, but rather in the festivities afterwards there were riots. A common thing for hooligans to do in New Zealand is to burn couches and several were burnt this past year. Http:/ www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/4178979a11.html. More recently, New Zealand celebrated Guy Fawkes Day. The tractor backed the boat into the water and once the bo...

May 29, 2011. Five years have passed since then Barcelona has won another Champion league in 2007 and yesterday they did it again. This morning I enjoyed my breakfast very much while reading newspaper; the fresh orange juice, chocolate milk, toasted bread with cheese, ¨Nocilla¨ (white chocolate jam) and the details of yesterday match in Wembley, London: Manchester United vs FC. Barcelona. May 24, 2011. We spent the weekend in Burgos. The biggest river in Spain) and then we spent the last day enjoying the...

la morenica: Tajahierro climbing course
http://lamorenica.blogspot.com/2012/06/tajahierro-climbing-course.html
June 30, 2012. Last week we spent the weekend in Potes, Cantabria. Pascual was taking a climbing course. Finally I grabbed my camera again and took pictures after long time it was untouched. The place was beautiful, the days were perfect; Saturday was sunny and Sunday was even sunnier, but most thing I liked was meeting new and nice people in the course. Climbing knows no age; look at this lady below. Escalada no tiene edad; mira está señora de abajo. Or this little kid. Disfrutando de la siesta.

The World As I See It: Istanbul Part 2
http://jeffreymahn.blogspot.com/2007/11/blog-post_10.html
The World As I See It. Wednesday, August 29, 2007. There is always a banquet at a conference and this year it was held at the Istanbul Archaeological Museum. We were told that the museum would remain open for twenty minutes so that we could have a. Private viewing and so we quickly entered the large, stone building. The award-winning museum has been undergoing renovation throughout the past decade, winning the Council of Europe’s Museum Award in 1993. The museum contains numerous works. A three foot high...

The World As I See It: September 2009

The World As I See It. Tuesday, September 01, 2009. When I tell people that I am going to Africa the response is often either excitement or the question, “why? 8221; The most memorable instance of this occurring was when I was in the chemists shop (pharmacy) on campus, picking up my prescription stomach illness packet that my doctor had prescribed just in case. When I presented my prescriptions, the pharmacist had to explain, loudly the purpose of each drug. “This one is for bloody diarrhea! From Maun we...

The World As I See It: February 2004
http://jeffreymahn.blogspot.com/2004_02_01_archive.html
The World As I See It. Saturday, February 21, 2004. The ride was uneventful and not nearly as spectacular as the bus ride from Greymouth to Nelson had been. The bus ride that day had been full of site seeing. The bus to Auckland was more along the lines of just being transportation. One reason was that we were stopping in urban areas such as Hamilton rather than going through forests or along rivers. So ends the story of my whirlwind trip to New Zealand. The trip was not long enough to really get a t...
