Carla's Oz and NZ Adventure. Monday, October 19, 2009. Day before the 1/2 marathon. I took the train out to Olympic Park to pick up my race number and timing chip. I wanted to hang out, but there wasn't much really happening around the venues for the games. The ferry runs from the park back to Circular Quay, so I took that instead of the train. Lisa and her parents, Katrina and Jack, invited me out to their house for Aussie BBQ, which was so nice of them. When traveling, it is especially nice to have a home cooked meal. Lisa took me over to see her new house, which she is in the process of moving into. She is so lucky as to have a double garage, nice big bedrooms and her own backyard! Carla's Oz and NZ Adventure. Monday, October 19, 2009. Bye Bye Sydney (for now, anyways). The approach into Cairns was bumpy because there were a lot of clouds. A driver and car were waiting there for me, so I had a pleasant ride to the Shangri-La (no crammed airport shuttle). The hotel looks right over the ocean and marina. Thursday, August 26, 2010. Because they missed out on birthday gifts we took our nephews Stijn and Jochem to Duinrell. An amusement park plus waterslide centre near The Hague. We had a blast! And since the boys are 10 and 8 years old and we wanted to bring them home in one piece we accompanied them on most attractions and slides. And I discovered a new Sander: he is OK with scary and fast water slides, although he is a weeney when it comes to thrill rides in roller coasters! Wednesday, August 25, 2010.

Sunday, March 28, 2010. XC banquet. Etentje om het cross-country loop seizoen af te sluiten. Deze loopserie is zeker iets wat we volgende winter hard gaan missen. The XC running season has come to an end. Most snow has melted in the city and everywhere the (dried) grass shows already. As usual the end of the XC runs was celebrated with a potluck and prices. Sander is officially an 'iron person' now (which I knew already of course! How much we will miss this XC running next winter! St Patricks day race.
