Carl and Lizzie's blog

Thursday, 5 July 2007. No such word as 'can't'. That's not a very popular message these days; it wasn't a popular message when Peter and John told the religious leaders in Acts 4 either. They arrested these two Christians, they threatened them, they 'commanded them not to speak or teach. In this name.' But Peter and John won't stop telling people about Jesus; v20 - 'We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.'. That's the challenge, isn't it? What an encouragement for us! Verse of the week.

Carl and Lizzie's blog: December 2006

http://www.carlandlizzie.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Friday, 29 December 2006. Verse of the week. This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed.' Luke 2:34-35. Friday, 22 December 2006. Here's a true story that a member of our church told everyone at our Carol Service last week (I've changed the names). It's quite long but well worth reading properly. Dave never got that chance, and Will died in September. A few days after Will's d...

Carl and Lizzie's blog: Verse of the week

http://www.carlandlizzie.blogspot.com/2007/07/verse-of-week.html

Thursday, 5 July 2007. Verse of the week. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts' 1 Thessalonians 2:4. That's why the Christian life is so liberating. The Christian no longer needs to think 'What will they think of me? Or 'How can I become, or stay, popular? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Carl and Lizzie's blog. No such word as cant. Verse of the week. Carl and Lizzie are Christians who live in Hull (or East Yorkshire if we're being posh). Lizzie's a teacher and Carl works...

Thursday, 22 February 2007. Verse of the week. I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri.and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts.' Exodus 31:2-3. Christians have all been filled with God's Spirit; have all been given gifts to use for God's work. Whatever you're good at, whatever your talents are, they've been given to you by God so that you can work for God. How do you use your gifts in his service? This week, will you use the gifts of speech and frie...

Carl and Lizzie's blog: God's control and our free will...

http://www.carlandlizzie.blogspot.com/2007/06/gods-control-and-our-free-will.html

Friday, 22 June 2007. God's control and our free will. If you haven't read the previous post, it's probably helpful to do so before you read this). This is a long post, but it's a complicated subject! Here's a question which countless Bible-believing Christians have struggled with for centuries; what does it mean for God to be in control of (or sovereign over) his creation, and therefore over humanity? For an example, look at Matthew 11:27-29. V28-29 – 'Come to me.Take my yoke' – Jesus in...In other word...

Tim Parker: July 2006

http://timjam.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 17, 2006. William Rees (1802-1883) was a congregationalist minister in Liverpool. Among other things to come from his pen, the following is probably the most well known:. Here is love - vast as the ocean. Loving kindness as the flood. When the prince of life, our ransom,. Shed for us his precious blood. Who his love - will not remember. Who can cease to sing his praise? He can never be forgotten. Throughout heaven's eternal days. On the mount of crucifixion. Fountains opened deep and wide.

Tim Parker: November 2006

http://timjam.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 16, 2006. In our staff meetings we have been going over "The Gaging of God" (D.A. Carson). The book sets out to offer "an in-depth look at the big picture, shows how the many ramifications of pluralism are all parts of a whole, and then provides a systematic Christian response.". There are lots of usful insites in the first chapter alown and most importantly of all, the are linked back and applyed to the contempory christain minister. One insight I espeshaly found usful was:. Peter’s n...

Tim Parker: December 2006

http://timjam.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 29, 2006. Limited atonment foreshadowed in passover account? I have recently be writing some bible studies on Exodus. As one would expect, this Old Testament account of God's people experiencing the gracious salvation of God contains much which points to the greater salvation brought about in Christ. Preparing the studies has once again made me marvel in wonder at the God who saves. On thing I have never really pondered before is the passover instructions in Ex 12:4. When I saw The Revd ...

Tim Parker: October 2006

http://timjam.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 29, 2006. Blacksticks - A rather tasty cheese. I’v recently discovered something rather special in the cheese world. It is called Blacksticks Blue . Originating in Lancashire, it is a truly fantastic example of a traditional English soft blue cheese. It is similar in flavour to a well matured Shropshire blue, but is considerably creamer and has a softer more melt in the mouth texture. Posted by Tim Parker at 10:58 pm. Tuesday, October 24, 2006. Tim Parker: February 2007

http://timjam.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 26, 2007. Lambs, Lambs and more Lambs. The new testament has brought very mixed blessings to the animal kingdom. On the one hand, temple sacrifices are done and dusted. but as passages such as Acts 10: 13 point out, bacon and other porky delights are now officially back on the menu. I bet Lambs are very glad we are now in New Testament times. Below is a very helpful comment from Philip Ryken (Exodus, 2005). Posted by Tim Parker at 12:13 pm. Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Understanding the s...

Carl & Lindsay

Wednesday, April 6, 2011. My sweet baby girl turned 5 months old on Monday! This past month has been great in many ways and challenging in others. I love watching her grow and learn. It is definitely the most gratifying part of motherhood for me. But with that learning and growth also comes different challenges that make me feel very inept, and when you combine that with my current situation of living in a hotel in Alabama, it makes for some interesting times. Motherhood is definitely an adventure! Jane ...

Something That We Do

Something That We Do. Love is something that we do! 37 and 38 weeks! July 2, 2013. We’re just waiting on the baby! Here’s our last two weeks in photos…. Here’s me and Luke at 37 weeks. And here’s me and Belle taking a nap… there wasn’t a way for her to sleep on my round ole belly so she curled up on my chest. Mom snuck this photo while I was catching a few Z’s. Here’s mom and I on Sunday before church. Perhaps my last pregnant Sunday? And this little ham had to get in on the photo-action. It’s hila...

Carl and Liz Plus One. Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Here are a few pictures of Annika (just turned 6 months old! Annika got sick for the first time (just a little fever and clingy). Carl's first day at work. Just in case we forgot to tell people, we recently moved to Sioux Falls, SD, for Carl to start work as a pediatric hospitalist at Sanford Children's Hospital. It's good to get back to the Midwest, although we already miss all our friends in Phoenix. Apparently, we're not too sure what's going on.

Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Is he a Hansen? I'm just trying to figure out if Ethan looks like one of my kids or not? What do you think? Caleb (old school scanned in photo).
