Keeping friends and family up to date on our experiences in the Cauayan Philippines Mission. Wednesday, June 26, 2013. The best part about Zone Conferences? Spending time with the fantastic missionaries serving in the Philippines Cauayan Mission. Elder Samar and Elder Landeen sang a gorgeous duet! We've heard Elder Samar many times before and love his voice but we'd never heard Elder Landeen before- he's been hiding that great talent! It's time for a little merienda. His pink tie was the bacon! I worked ...

Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Home again home again jiggity jig. It has been six weeks since we returned to 'our other life' and I cannot say the transition has been terribly smooth for me. Coming home to family was a wonderful experience-the adults have not changed significantly but the children.wow! I went to the temple. To that question I have one resounding answer:. There is NOTHING in this world that I would ever change about serving a mission-NOTHING! Our view from the top of the escalator. Last spring R...

Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Music, fabric and food.plus a little love! My mother raised me with the good old musicals of the 40's and 50's.she LOVED June Allyson, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Lena Horne and all of those great actors from that era. I grew to love music from the cradle and when I was five years old, my parents bought me my first piano! There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her and silently thank her for my love of music! Introduce them to music and help them gain the skill to pl...

Tuesday, May 28, 2013. The beginning of the end. Ever since I was a little girl, I have heard the saying 'all good things must come to an end' and I never could have imagined the impact that saying would have. Kayleen at our 'farewell' July 31, 2011. Now I am here to tell you that having 10 days to finalize two years worth of experiences, friendships, responsibilities and STUFF is a HUGE task! Family #1- - -. Family #2- - -. Family #3- - - - - -. While hunting for a new and upgraded apartment for the sis...
Mission Possible: March 2013
http://shanermission.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 29, 2013. Happy Birthday to the Relief Society. I tell my good husband that this is the land of vinyl banners! Everywhere we look, they are strung in trees, across fences, on the eaves of roof lines and on free standing poles. We are living in a land of plastic! All Relief Society activities in the Philippines involve three things:. Dancing and music [plus Karaoke]. Lots of laughter and fun. After the dance 'competition' [no winners or losers, just all having fun], they have a lunch. I ...
