May | 2015 | Carlseapatch's Weblog

https://carlseapatch.wordpress.com/2015/05

Archive for May, 2015. The theme for our April ATC swap was graffiti. I received some fantastic ATCs for this theme:. For my ATC I used a free online graphics program to create the font and then printed onto canvas. This is the blurb that was attached to the back explaining the process:. Is a social comment in a public arena. And a simple running stitch and French knots to add texture. The edging is a machine made cord attached to the edge. Like most graffiti it is bold and brash. April | 2015 | Carlseapatch's Weblog

https://carlseapatch.wordpress.com/2015/04

Archive for April, 2015. New work, no photos. Hmmm, I seem to always forget to take photos before I send off finished work. I have decided I must get into the habit, as out of sight, out of mind and I forget totally about them! On Friday I posted off my flag to India Flint’s ‘solace’ project. I used the sleeve of an Op shop linen shirt to cut out the flag shape and embroidered my words in silk/wool thread from Beautiful silks. I do, however have some photos from other exploits and stitching. With all his...

https://carlseapatch.wordpress.com/2015/04/18/a-day-at-the-aqc-2015

A day at the AQC 2015. April 18, 2015 at 4:24 pm. I had a very enjoyable day wandering around the Australasian Quilt Convention in Melbourne yesterday. I tend to attend once every few years, but there were a couple of incentives this time. A friend had entered her quilt in the AQC Challenge, which had the interesting theme of ‘True blue’ and I needed to stock up on some threads. I didn’t get pictures of many quilts, it was quite crowded, but you can see them all here. Best of the best. We practiced strai...

November | 2014 | Carlseapatch's Weblog

Archive for November, 2014. We went for a walk along the shopping strip, tasted our first ‘piccolo cono, due gelato’, had a delicious lunch and then headed in to see a great exhibition of Leonado Da Vinci’s experimental inventions, precursors for many later engineering feats. Say the first of many prayers in many churches and climbed to the roof for the most amazing views of the structure itself and the city. November 3, 2014 at 1:28 pm. A Travelling we did go. So we flew out 2 days later, missed our tou...

Archive for February, 2008. Postcard in the post. Three posts in 5 days, wow, this is a record! I had to post today because I received some exciting post (in the mailbox) this morning. An envelope from Susan Lenz. With the Postcard I chose from her swap. This was the last one left of her Endless Possibilities Series, which has these digitized words and other machine stitched rows of patterns upon painted, heat distressed bondaweb(? She has some beautiful work on her site, so take a look. Here I have adde...

Creative Meanderings: Taking a break

http://doreeng.blogspot.com/2013/04/taking-break.html

My journey through life making Art and enjoying the company of family and friends. Thursday, April 18, 2013. I have been procrastinating for a few months now about closing down my blog-but I just can't bring myself to do it. I haven't been a very good blogger for the last 12 months and I kept thinking why do I bother. I have not been doing much of anything that would excite me let alone any of you and as you know I have not been well either. I just hope that this break will help me get my act together.

http://doreeng.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

My journey through life making Art and enjoying the company of family and friends. Saturday, September 21, 2013. I hope you are sitting down because I would hate to be the cause of someone injuring themselves when the faint with shock. Now as you can see I have been stitching again - no I didn't do all of this but I have finished them off. In November last year I did a workshop at the guild with Effie Mitrofanis and then I took them on the cruise with me and did a little bit more to them. I have been hea...

My journey through life making Art and enjoying the company of family and friends. Saturday, February 23, 2013. Almost a month has slipped by and I fanally have something to show. Early in January I went to Melbourne for a few days with my daughter and I purchased several pieces of hand made felt-each were 25cm square. This is the back of the buttons and as you can see there are no attachment b...

Creative Meanderings: March 2013

http://doreeng.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

My journey through life making Art and enjoying the company of family and friends. Thursday, March 28, 2013. Firstly I want to let you know that I have seen the specialist and I am now on medication which seems to be helping me but I won't know for sure until I go back to see him at the beginning of May. I do have to have a blood test and another MRI scan so that they can compare the before and afters. Anyway if the way I feel after only a week is any indication then I should be ok. http://doreeng.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

My journey through life making Art and enjoying the company of family and friends. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. I've done it again. For the second year in a row I have forgotten the anniversary of my first blog post. It all began on January the 5th 2007. And I was terrified. I only knew how to send and receive e-mails and I would read blogs and other stuff. I didn't know much about computers-Ebony had to teach me how to cut and paste when she was only seven and she is still teaching me stuff even now.

Creative Meanderings: An Update on what's Happening

http://doreeng.blogspot.com/2013/09/i-am-just-dropping-in-to-let-people.html

My journey through life making Art and enjoying the company of family and friends. Tuesday, September 3, 2013. An Update on what's Happening. I am just dropping in to let people know how I am gettin along. I haven't posted since April for many reasons. I have not been well- and if I were to list all my ailments you would just give up reading. It is strange that when one reaches my age the wheels seem to fall off -health wise. The worst thing though is that I have been suffering with depression. Im glad y...

Carl Seale, Palm Art

Produces art from the cast-off date pods of palm trees in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. The elegant shapes of these pods and the rich interior colors were the main attractions that led to the basic concept of PalmArt. Each pod exhibits an individual “personality” that often will suggest a special treatment or will contrast or complement others to create unique ensembles. Memory workshop with Sandy Webster. Is visiting Australia (she is a big fan of this country) at the moment for Grampians Texture. And I was lucky enough to attend a 2 day workshop at our local Studio 54. A while back I developed a ‘deep map’ for an exhibition in Sydney. So I have decided to continue this with a series of ‘pictorial maps’ on the women in my family whose stories have influenced and inspired me. Sandy does sometimes teach a travel journal workshop and had an example with her, I think a hand...
