one food guy: Constructing the Almost Perfect Pizza
http://onefoodguy.blogspot.com/2008/06/constructing-almost-perfect-pizza.html
Friday, June 20, 2008. Constructing the Almost Perfect Pizza. I know, I'm way behind on posting; I still have plenty more from India and a recent trip to Switzerland. I also have some 'material' from a great restaurant in Boston called Toro and a Greek restaurant called The Aegean from right here in Framingham where I live. But, love is. And tonight was pizza night. Next, I gently brushed the dough with unfiltered (flavorful) olive oil and spread out the caramelized onions. And some soft goat cheese....

one food guy: Tuesday's Tasting - Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissants
http://onefoodguy.blogspot.com/2009/09/tuesdays-tasting-trader-joes-chocolate.html
Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Tuesday's Tasting - Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissants. Trader Joe has outdone himself. While at my local Trader Joe's last week I saw a box of Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissants in the freezer case, a relatively new product. Recently back from a trip into Paris where I did enjoy an amazing pain au chocolat. Known as a chocolate croissant in the US,) I thought I would give them a try. So, wow! You need to stop into your local Trader Joe's. There are four in a single package so ...

one food guy: Tomato and spinach eggs bene with oven-roasted chili potatoes
http://onefoodguy.blogspot.com/2008/02/tomato-and-spinach-eggs-bene-with-oven.html
Sunday, February 03, 2008. Tomato and spinach eggs bene with oven-roasted chili potatoes. This morning was a lazy morning, nothing to do except eat, sleep and relax. Must stay rested for the Super Bowl - Go Patriots! Meat and milk from cloned animals last week, but if it's cloned, it's not organic. I also read in the March 2007 issue of Bicycling magazine that "the pesticides in conventional foods pollute our bodies - and can actually make us fat." My health is worth a few extra dollars. Once the eggs we...

one food guy: The Best Damn Mussels, Period
http://onefoodguy.blogspot.com/2008/02/best-damn-mussells-period.html
Saturday, February 02, 2008. The Best Damn Mussels, Period. Seriously, these may be the best mussels you'll ever have. When you get them home, many of them will probably be open. Tap the shell of the mussel and it should slowly close itself up. Also, most fish markets and supermarkets will clean and debeard the mussels for you. This must be done before cooking and eating your mussels. Finally, always cook the mussels the same day you buy them. This is the original recipe. Scott's Spicy Northeast Mussels.

one food guy: Dinner... for Five
http://onefoodguy.blogspot.com/2006/10/dinner-for-five.html
Monday, October 16, 2006. Dinner. for Five. Dinner for eight became dinner for six. Two hours before dinner was to be served, it became five. Less dishes to clean and more wine to drink is what that meant for me. The guests arrived around 6:30pm just as I was finishing final preparations in the kitchen. I prepared a white bean dip with pita crisps as well as some goat cheese crostinis for our snacking enjoyment while we all enjoyed a beverage. Hangar One. And Captain Marden's Seafoods. I served this sala...

Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Tuesday's Tasting - Trader Joe's Eggplant Cutlets. Faithful readers, Tuesday's Tasting is back! If you've been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that J can not have cheese or milk made from cow's milk. Sheep and goat's milk cheese are perfectly fine though. So when I picked. Up a box of Trader Joe's Eggplant Cutlets, I knew exactly what I was going to make, Eggplant Manchego! While I assembled the dish, I put on a pot of salted water for the pasta, Whole Food's.

http://onefoodguy.blogspot.com/2011/11/service-can-make-or-break-meal.html
Monday, November 14, 2011. Service can make or break a meal. After eating out twice this weekend I experienced both ends of the spectrum. A fantastic meal with stellar service from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left, and a meal rife with service gaffes from start to finish with some pretty good food in the middle. Are you in the restaurant business? How do you make sure your staff is ready for anything? Sel de la terre. November 14, 2011 at 5:02 PM. There are things that irritate me a...

one food guy: What I did on my Summer Vacation
http://onefoodguy.blogspot.com/2007/10/what-i-did-on-my-summer-vacation.html
Monday, October 08, 2007. What I did on my Summer Vacation. I had a good summer. It was warm and dry in New England which meant plenty of great beach days. I also spent time on Block Island in Rhode Island and Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. My five days on Block Island were spent with my wife at the Old Town Inn. A beautiful place which served up gourmet breakfasts daily. My long weekend on the Vineyard was spent at a house that some friends rented. Here now is one dinner on the vineyard. 1/2 pound ...
