As you can see it is almost all away. Of course Dangerous Jimmy was down raking about! Yes, he is still here, we cant get rid of him! Sand bags at the ready for the next deluge which is due on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Monday 28th December 2015. Another tournament year, this time we welcomed The Amateur Championship won by Romain Langasque.

Friday 31st May 2013. The qualifying for the Links starts today on the Burnside and on the Championship on Monday. Hand cutting greens today still keeping the heights at 4.3mm. A bit more top dressing on the approaches and surrounds this week. The Hydroject is out on the tees pumping a little bit of seaweed and wetting agent in. Feathering around the greens keeps the course looking good. Two big retirements this week were Dangerous Jimmy. Dangerman has been here for 37 years. 37 years of destruction.

Friday 21st September 2012. Still cold in the mornings but really nice when the sun comes out. The circus is in town! The Dunhill Links contractors moved in this week to put up tents and scoreboard frames. Also tv tower scaffolding went up. On the course, our monthly application of wetting agent was put out on the approaches, surrounds and greens earlier on in the week. The colour should start to wean off by the end of next week. Fresh gravel was also added to certain areas. Tuesday 18th September 2012.

Tuesday 19th March 2013. Last week a covering of snow kept the guys off of bunker revetments and turf preperations. Course was closed on the Monday and Tuesday. Some of the guys found better ways to cover up and keep warm more than others. When the sun did come out it was quite warm. Gorse planting at the mound in front of the greenkeeping sheds. Odd bits of broom in the heather were cut right back to and stop the heather being smothered. Burn wall work was continued, nearly complete. WORK ON THE LINKS.

Monday 23rd December 2013. As we head closer towards Christmas, the weather this winter has been very helpful. It has allowed us to get on with most of our main winter works. The ditch to the right of the 3rd green was smartened up with half rounds replacing the wooden boards that were there. The next job on the list was the 2nd tee extension. Friday 17th January 2014. Happy New Year to you all. We started off this year as we finished off last year - turfing the bunkers at the 4th. The back of the bunker turfed with fluffy fescue. And the walk in with jumpy rye! A mound up the right hand side of the 2nd green. Was turf cut with turf lifted and saved at the side. November 18, 2014. What a Difference a Week Makes. I'm happy to report that all of our cultural practices are now complete for the year. The last of these practices were wrapped up a few weeks ago with the aeration and sanding of the fairways. No layering found in the picture taken today. Moving forward into 2015, we will use various soil testing methods to determine how we adjust our plan moving forward so as to maintain the sand base that's been built up throughout the years. December 12, 2013. The Frost Delay. Not exactly the favorite of situations for golfers or the maintenance staff. The last nine days of cold weather continues to be, well I'll just say, frustrating. The average low temperature for this period has been 32 degrees and with the average high just over 50 degrees, we are all more than ready for the forecast of warmer weather this weekend. Here are a few pictures of frost and the damage to turf that can be associated with golfing when it's just to darn cold.
