FIBER ARTISTA: The F Word: Fiber
http://carolannwaugh.blogspot.com/2010/05/f-word-fiber.html
Thoughts from a fiber artist about art and the business of being an artist. Sunday, May 23, 2010. The F Word: Fiber. My semi-solo show opened on Friday and more than 175 people came to our reception. And I collaborated on two huge pieces measuring 72" high by 76"wide and these were hung in the front of the gallery so these were the first pieces seen when people walked thrugh the front door. This one shows the piece on "my" side of the gallery. This picture shows some of my other pieces. The F Word: Fiber.
FIBER ARTISTA: January 2010

Thoughts from a fiber artist about art and the business of being an artist. Sunday, January 31, 2010. I envy my friends who work in other mediums than fiber. It seems like it takes me many more hours to complete a piece than a watercolorist or acrylic painter. I was looking over my "inventory" of work I have completed over the last several years and only 10-12 medium to large works per year. I also realized that these "small works" could be studies for larger works. I wanted to make a piece that would be...
FIBER ARTISTA: Dream Rocket Project
http://carolannwaugh.blogspot.com/2010/04/dream-rocket-project.html
Thoughts from a fiber artist about art and the business of being an artist. Monday, April 12, 2010. There's an artist in Alabama named Jennifer Marsh who founded the International Fiber Collaborative in 2007. She's a woman with BIG ideas. Her first project was covering a gas station with fiber panels. Her next project was creating a tree with more than 30,000 fiber leaves (I contributed 10 leaves). And now, she wants to cover a Saturn Rocket with more than 8,000 2' x 2' fiber panels. If you turn this pie...

Thoughts from a fiber artist about art and the business of being an artist. Tuesday, October 27, 2009. The Next 2-3 Years. I can see from my last post (was it really August? That I've bogged down on my story and so I will cover the next several years quickly so I can get to what i really want to write about - being a studio artist. Where did they teach (too many to mention but Art Quilt Tahoe. Quilting by the Lake. Hudson River Valley Art Workshops. Susan Brooks, and Heather Thomas. Cloth, Paper, Scissors.
FIBER ARTISTA: February 2010
http://carolannwaugh.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thoughts from a fiber artist about art and the business of being an artist. Sunday, February 14, 2010. Last summer, I fell in love with rusting fabric. Unfortunately, I live in a very clean city and no matter where I looked, I couldn't find any rusted objects. So I actually ended up buying my first rusted objects online. Imagine! Now, my garage is full of plates, nails, horse shoes, gears, metal sheets, you name it, I have it! Here's how I rust fabric. (I do this outdoors because of the smell). When it i...

Jeanne Marklin: Snow dyeing with MX dyes
http://jeannemarklin.blogspot.com/2015/02/snow-dyeing-with-mx-dyes.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Snow dyeing with MX dyes. In the North East we have had snow storm after snow storm. Although it would be great if we could have the snow along with 70 degree weather, the snow is beautiful and a gift for dyers! The fabric is soaked in soda ash first and then hung to dry. I use a folding home drying rack that can be folded away. Carol used dry dye powder on top of the snow. I used dye concentrates but will try the dry powder as an experiment. After the snow has melted, the f...
Jeanne Marklin: December 2014
http://jeannemarklin.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 21, 2014. Recent work and Holiday wishes. FaceBook has taken over my social media life and I've been spending more time on it and less posting to the blog. My FaceBook page link is Jeanne Marklin Art. I did finish a couple of pieces in the last few months. They haven't been exhibited yet but will be entered in juried shows in 2015. Entering shows is always a crap shoot but it's also a validation that our art work is speaking to others. Here's a piece I finished in July:. Art With a Needle.

Jeanne Marklin: April 2014
http://jeannemarklin.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 25, 2014. I've been enjoying the blog posts from the National Museum of Women in the Arts. They have been engaging and thoughtful and show a real change in the museum's focus toward a more contemporary approach. The blog is called "Broad Strokes" and is well worth subscribing to - don't take my word for it - check it out here:. Http:/ womeninthearts.wordpress.com/author/womeninthearts/. And undoubtedly helped move many people to be more understanding and accepting of people who are gay.

Jeanne Marklin: June 2014
http://jeannemarklin.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 25, 2014. A few reasons to go to the Crow Barn for a workshop. That's my workshop buddy, Dianne Mehlinger from VA, Dorothy and me. See how relaxed we are? I've taken about 6 workshops at the Barn, and always feel that it is an inspiring experience. The last one with Dorothy Caldwell was paced very well, so that there was always something to do, but it never felt rushed. John Stitzlein, Nancy's husband and partner in all things. Such a good guy. Quirky insects you don't find anywhere else.

Monday, June 29, 2015. Janet Echelman in Boston. Creates aerial sculptures that float between buildings, over roundabouts, inside huge lobbies - anywhere that a monumental work of art can be installed. Boston commissioned her to make a piece that would hang over the Rose Kennedy Greenway for the summer of 2015. Echelman named it "As If It Were Already Here". I made a special trip into Boston to see it and am so glad I did. It's breathtaking! Echelman did a Ted talk that has been viewed by over a million ...

Carol on the go
Carol on the go. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Moving forward in more ways than one. I haven't blogged for a while, because there wasn't always that much to tell, so let me give some updates. Trevor is now fully off the ventilator and has been for quite a while now. They put the 'talking pipe' in his tracheoscopy and capped it, so he can now talk but his voice is still quite quiet and he's struggling a bit talking because his throat is very sore.
