HEATWAVE GRUMBLE « Carol Grandell Scott

Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Musician. Thoughts … ideas … suggestions. Written By: Carol Grandell Scott. Aug• 18•16. I felt a furnace deep within. Oppressing flames in every cell. Should I denounce the weather man? Blame him because it’s hot as hell? I took a swim to get refreshed. But could have had a bubble bath. Desiring to cool my fiery flesh. Instead, I had a lukewarm wash. Excuse my dripping pony tail. Ignore my steaming, dewy face. One more scorched day will make me wail. Photo by Howdy Paul Scott.

Having taught for more than twenty five years in area schools, I have had my share of recess duty. It is now a memory for which I am thankful. Young teachers, prepare. You. As we focus on new beginnings, we strive to leave the past behind. I tried to capture in the following poem what we all would like to bring to the new year. Phil 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters…whatever is lovely…think about such things.”. A LITTLE BIT OF LOVELY. A little bit of lovely is what I’d like to share. A glimpse of what His hands have made,.

I get to hear them share their school day tales. Sometimes Cali, the 9 year old will read aloud from a book of poems or jokes. Her readings inspired me to write a poem about my early years as a fulltime teacher. Young teachers, prepare! The older ones have paid their dues. And now it falls to you. T The King h...

Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Musician. Thoughts … ideas … suggestions. A LITTLE RED, WHITE and BLUE. Written By: Carol Grandell Scott. Jul• 02•16. A LITTLE RED, WHITE and BLUE. I needed a little red, white and blue today. Gone, the cherished traditions from my youth. Missing, the morning prayers by teachers led. Departed, the Scripture readings that brushed my soul. Dead, respect and reverence for God’s Word. Spent, the value of life itself. I needed a little red, white and blue today. From your own site.
