Carol's View of the World

Carol's View of the World. Saturday, June 11, 2011. This is our "sampler" trip of Massachusetts, to Boston, Cape Cod, and Salem. Donna and I are checking out this part of the country, looking for history, East Coast style, and lobsters! We arrived in early June, hoping avoid the heat and humidity that the East Coast is known to have in the summer. Ah, early June, it'll be nice weather yet, right? The swan boats in the Boston Commons. The Freedom Trail starts here. NOTE: The Bruins won! I heard the place ...

Carol's View of the World: 2009 Greece

http://carolsviewoftheworld.blogspot.com/2010/10/2009-greece.html

Carol's View of the World. Friday, October 22, 2010. April 2009, Spring Break. We spent 10 days exploring Athens and Santorini. The weather was just warming up to be pleasantly perfect. Athens was our first stop. We were soon delighted to find a mixture of ancient, old, recent, and very new - all mixed together. Our hotel room overlooked the Temple of Zeus, a Roman installation - quite a view! A typical Athens street. The Psirri neighborhood - a cool outdoor hangout. Sitting at the edge of the world....

Carol's View of the World. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. We are on the last leg of our trip, after traveling for 5 weeks. By now, we've seen 8 countries, driven through 7 of them. Glad to not be driving in London (it's the wrong side of the road.)! Cool seal for the City of London. Security near #10 Downing Street, the prime minister's home. Are they eyeballing someone suspicious? Detail of Westminster Abbey - the grand church near the Houses of Parliament. Of course, that's Big Ben! Flying back to the US in t...

Carol's View of the World: July 2008

http://carolsviewoftheworld.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Carol's View of the World. Monday, July 14, 2008. The town of Kilkenny, is a great place to start - easy walking, neat and tidy buildings, a pretty town, with lots of shops and eateries. I was struck at how nice the town looked - so well maintained. Actually, all over Ireland, the buildings and homes are immaculate! As I drove around, everywhere, I saw people painting walls, tending gardens, sweeping, and cleaning. Ireland is amazing! Irish music at a local pub in Kilkenny. Stair detail at the Roche House.
