The Sweetcorn Kid: A Gobio Gathering
http://thesweetcornkid.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-gobio-gathering.html
Friday, 7 August 2015. Saturday saw the gathering of the Gobio Society; the venue was The Old Mill, Aldermaston on the marvellous river Kennet. It was Steve’s 50th birthday celebrations; he wanted very dearly to catch a gudgeon to mark the occasion. I began just left of two thick trees, a corner where the water swung round under said trees and opened out into a fairly substantial pool with a relatively uniform depth of around 18 inches. I started to catch quite quickly, mostly small roach and perch, ...

Monday, 20 April 2015. After last weeks success with the 2 commons, yet failing to land either of the 2 mirrors I hooked, I couldnt wait to get back and settle the score. Today I finished work at midday and pointed the car bonnet at Sultan. . Click here for the full post. Links to this post. Sunday, 12 April 2015. A Gift from the Gods. The Sweetcorn Kid: December 2014
http://thesweetcornkid.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 29 December 2014. Every once in a while a few of us Wallyboys get together for a days angling. This was our Christmas get together held on the local river Hamble, home to a great variety of species. Its not a big river at this particular section, you could probably jump across most of it should you feel inclined. Our day though was more about the gathering, the camaraderie, and the tea. The Sweetcorn Kid: June 2015
http://thesweetcornkid.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 25 June 2015. Beauty and the beast. I did my rounds at Tithe and once happy began looking for fish. There were one or two at the top end of the top pond among the weed, but after catapulting out some bread and being destroyed by a flock of gulls, I decided not to pursue them. As I waited for duck Jock arrived and said he’d hang on till dusk, so I left Tithe and wandered over to Carron Row. Click here for the full post. Links to this post. Monday, 22 June 2015. The Sweetcorn Kid: November 2014
http://thesweetcornkid.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Monday, 17 November 2014. What is it about big perch that makes them so very impressive? Perhaps it’s because as youngsters we caught so many finger sized perchlings, etching the fact that ‘no perch is bigger than your hand’ in your mind forever. Believe in something long enough and nobody will tell you different, but then one day you see a fish of a pound lying in the bottom of your net, how can this be? Click here for the full post. After reading Sean’s post, and seeing the scale perfect roach he caught, I knew I had to have a day chasing them soon. I finished work today at the usual midday, and returned home hoping I could take Jessica to the park; it was a gorgeous sunny afternoon. As it turned out, the park was a no go, Jessica was fast asleep. Click here for the full post. Links to this post.

The Sweetcorn Kid: January 2015
http://thesweetcornkid.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, 18 January 2015. I was really looking forward to todays session. There was no fishing last weekend and a clear, bright crisp winters day was forecast. Lakeside was my chosen venue, the big roach there have shunned me for a good while now, but with most other species present, if the right spot is chosen it can provide a tremendous days sport. . Monday, 27 July 2015. With a week off work looking after and enjoying my time immensely with Jessica, the wife was back and Sunday was my day of rest. The Sweetcorn Kid: Carpathia Rises - A Pictorial View
http://thesweetcornkid.blogspot.com/2015/06/carpathia-rises-pictorial-view.html
Monday, 22 June 2015. Carpathia Rises - A Pictorial View. I picked Johnny up at 7am and after a quick stop for supplies we hit the road and arrived at the venue an hour later. He particularly enjoyed the final mile or so, weaving through narrow country lanes, which of course are compulsory when nearing fishing lakes. A few missed strikes later and Carpathia was into its first carp, and it felt wonderful. The tip bent beautifully, the middle absorbed the lunges and the butt power enabled me to steer t...
