A Peace Corps Journey from Jordan to Colombia. Posted by Carrie Shoultz. May 18, 2016. May 18, 2016. I thought I’d take this post to talk about schools in Colombia, since I will be spending a lot of time there. I’ve also realized I haven’t yet explained my primary project, so this will be the goals of this post. It’s text heavy so – you’re warned. There is, of course, a national teacher’s union here, called FECODE or. Federación Colombiana de Educadores. Education is divided into 5 stages. Ages 4 to 5).

About Carrieكري شلتز – Corps Close-Up

https://carrieinpeacecorps.wordpress.com/about

A Peace Corps Journey from Jordan to Colombia. Here is this, in case you missed my introduction post Here. After much consideration, I reapplied the Peace Corps and am now set to be a part of the 7th group of volunteers to serve in Colombia since it reopened after more than a 20 year hiatus. I chose Webster University’s Global MA in International Relations. I do recognize my blessings, but as much as I have traveled I do recognize what a small sliver of the planet I really have seen. Finally a PCV (again)! – Corps Close-Up

https://carrieinpeacecorps.wordpress.com/2016/04/23/finally-a-pcv-again

A Peace Corps Journey from Jordan to Colombia. Finally a PCV (again)! Posted by Carrie Shoultz. April 23, 2016. April 23, 2016. I survived a second PST. I really thought maybe PST would be easier the second time around it’s not. In Barranquilla. Took my final LPI and hit the level I needed for swearing in. Final tests, medical wrap up, and final interviews. And then the day. That evening though oh man. All the kids from my neighborhood! After the pool party, I went home, showered and ate dinner. Then...

A Peace Corps Journey from Jordan to Colombia. A Peace Corps Journey from Jordan to Colombia. We have our Sites! We’re coming to the point in PST where things kick into 5th gear. The days are more and more packed, there’s a sort of stress from the staff to cram as much as possible into our heads as quickly as possible as we are running out of times. A coastal Colombia Christmas. In the United States, at least in the Midwest, there are several signs that Christmas is coming:. Lights arrive at Target in September and October, around the same time as the hats, mittens, and gloves (that way you can get them up before the roof’s just a sheet of snow and ice). As soon as November 1, marketing at all stores is all about Christmas. Mint and gingerbread-flavored things appear. That one oldies station starts playing non-stop Christmas music. Día de las Velitas.

Students who choose to learn. To learn. (Okay, so this is true no matter what culture/circumstance I am in.). These are people who spent as many as 3 hours a week with me learning English. Some of them are interested in learning to open up job opportunities. About 10 of them sell goods at a weekly craft fair and want to have the skills to be able to talk to the occasional tourists who come by. Some of them want to be able to travel. Some just plain want to learn. FOR WHEN MY BLOG IS UPDATED! I'm Brianna ...

A year in Colombia. A year ago today I arrived in Colombia. To begin my journey with Peace Corps. A year ago today I left Wisconsin to get to Miami; what follows is just as true! I was calmer than I had expected to be, only nervous about what my host family would be like. I sweat a lot, the 100 degree shift from January in Wisconsin to January on the Caribbean coast not sitting well with my body. But neither did the air conditioner in the hotel, set to 16 – which in Fahrenheit is 61. I had never heard of...

Carrie's Peace Corps Mongolia Adventure Log. Tuesday, October 03, 2006. Queue mystical solemn background music*. Do I have something to do today? Are there really no goats outside?
