Novelty | Digital Carrie
https://carriemoran.wordpress.com/2014/07/23/novelty
Reflecting on my journey as a librarian. July 23, 2014. I’ve recently shifted my perspective on the importance of consuming content as part of the creative process. This shift came as a result of my fledgling explorations of the world through poetry and with a cultivation of new friendships with writers. I’ve done quite a bit of blogging, and I see how this parallels my consumption of content I read blogs and short articles more than almost anything else. In my academic setting the obvious tie-ins are th...
Admitting Ignorance | Digital Carrie

Reflecting on my journey as a librarian. May 21, 2014. I’m a podcast junkie. I started with health and fitness podcasts. But quickly expanded my library to include a wide range of shows. I listen while I drive, while I exercise, and sometimes while I cook or do chores. I still can’t make the leap into audiobooks, but I have very much enjoyed the opportunities to learn while engaged in other tasks. This week I listened to an episode of the Freakonomics Radio Podcast. Think Like a Freak. I’m also a j...
Library Summer Camp | Digital Carrie

Reflecting on my journey as a librarian. July 9, 2014. I’m hoping that anyone who reads this had the chance to go to summer camp as a kid, and to actually enjoy the experience. When I was leaving ALA’s Annual Conference in Las Vegas I felt like I was leaving summer camp. Most of the suite at dinner. Doing my moderation thing! That evening I attend...

Human Interaction | Digital Carrie
https://carriemoran.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/human-interaction
Reflecting on my journey as a librarian. June 4, 2014. I read an article on a psychology blog I follow titled Attending a Better University Doesn’t Make You Happier, Here’s What Does. This title is clearly clickbait, but it’s important to what I do so I checked it out. The article reported on a Gallup survey of almost 30,000 college graduates. Here’s the passage that struck me:. For example, college graduates were more likely to be engaged at work if they’d. Had a mentor to encourage them. The more work ...

What's On The Mind
What's On The Mind. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. My opinions about the Phoebe Prince suicide. Alright, the one thing, I absolutely do not agree upon is the fact that people bully other people. No matter where you look or turn, you will see it everywhere. It can be so minisiciual that you'll never notice it happening, but it does happen. Now on with my annyoance to some people. I can not stand how kids, teens, and even adults get bullied! Plus, shame on the people who says she should have sucked it up!
