The Bad Month Of March. As you can see, The Savannah Morning News was reporting on the Carrier Dove as late as April. It alludes to a storm. Return to Home Page. But there are questions that remain about her:. Why was she bound for Tybee, an island with no industry to speak of? Why have there been no pictures of her to be found even though one was painted by the famous clipper ship artist Samuel Walters? Why was she traveling in ballast with no cargo or passengers from Liverpool?

Some Info about Samual Walters. Return to Home Page. A 19th century photograph of an unknown clipper ship. Imagine the breath taking beauty of seeing a ship like the Carrier Dove sailing towards Tybee Island. On May 30, 1991 the Samual Walters portrait of the Carrier Dove was sold at auction for 17,600. As you can see there is no graphic of it. So thus began my search for the portrait. I tried reaching out to other authorities on clipper ships with no luck. London May 30, 1991.
