The Pinecone Apothecary: February 2015
http://thepineconeapothecary.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 27, 2015. Amaranth is a forgotten grain. It's the hardest to find in a store, on a menu, and even at specialty shops and restaurants. The taste and texture may contribute to it. We often liken the smell of dried amaranth to grasshoppers and the texture to slime. I know I'm not doing a good job at proving why you should eat this but, don't worry, I will! Now, about the taste, how does one work with it? I recommend starting with this tasty breakfast porridge. You'll need:. 2) Add everythin...

Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Seaweed and Chocolate: Together At Last! I used to work in this really cold apothecary in the East Village and one day, while indulging in my daily chocolate fix, I wrapped it in toasted nori. Well, that was it. It was love at first bite and I had continued to do that for years until, recently, I decided to make my own chocolate bar with the two together! Behold, the Sushi Bar. Have been a hit! We added organic brown rice crisps for a delicious crunch and to, somewhat, follow ma...

Monday, May 5, 2014. The Best Egg Replacement! Fast forward to last Spring: a friend of ours, and genius baker, Tess Beatrice. Turned me on to what she called a "flax egg". You simply mix water and flax meal together and use it instead of eggs in any recipe. Unfortunately, you cannot scramble, fry, or make omelettes out of them - YET! You can, however, make moist, delicious, omega-3 rich recipes that come out even better than the old recipe that called for eggs. So, why don't we want to use eggs? Cage-fr...

http://thepineconeapothecary.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 15, 2013. Listen To Your Gut! Being someone that has suffered from a debilitating rash, I have a lot of empathy and understanding about the issue. Several years ago a rash began to appear on my face and slowly spread to my temples, chin, and scalp. The shedding skin would burn and bleed quite often, making it hard to shower or enjoy my life - not to mention feeling self conscious, especially when working in holistic healing. How do we reverse and prevent these conditions? A common link I...

The Pinecone Apothecary: Ghost Music
http://thepineconeapothecary.blogspot.com/p/ghost-music.html
A new concept and ritual by Aemen Bell. Ghosts are hungry. They stand at our periphery, snatching up any sustenance they can in the forms of our addictions, explosive or repressed emotions, and the wisps of dead dreams. But where do these ghosts come from? But our hearts couldn't forget. But as Ghosts, they are not completely invisible. You feel the whisper of a smile as you sit by a candle; one of your ghosts has touched their lips to your cheek. A song unexpectedly makes your eyes well up; a Gh...The o...
