Sleep is a substitute for caffeine, it turns out - Simon Tatham

Sleep is a substitute for caffeine, it turns out - Simon Tatham. Sleep is a substitute for caffeine, it turns out. After a couple of weekends of hard work on free software recently, I was feeling pretty tired, and decided to dedicate the weekend just past to intensive rest and catching up on my sleep. It turns out that if I really try hard to catch up on sleep, and succeed, then I become noticeably more caffeine-. And I can't even use ‘being half asleep’ as an excuse…. Comments Leave a comment.

Autocompleted British Isles - psych0naut
http://psych0naut.livejournal.com/53586.html
Sun, 31st Mar. 2013, 18:50. Here's another autocomplete map, this time of the British Isles. Evidently the people of Great Britain don't think much of their cities, whereas the Irish are on the whole quite enamoured with theirs. If your browser doesn't display the map properly, or if you want to get the SVG source, visit my autocomplete maps page. Sun, 31st Mar. 2013 18:13 (UTC). To which I am happy to add that:. Milton Keynes is in which region. Sun, 31st Mar. 2013 20:44 (UTC). LOL, that's awesome.

Ho · am · I. Middot; to · refuse · the · universe? David and the stegosaurus had learnt a lot about each other. He internet is poisoned. In my lunch break I started reading a blog on (er, mostly) Chinese politics, and within 5 minutes was confronted with slash involving David Miliband and a stegosaurus. No link, because it wasn't very good porn. I hope in the fullness of time somebody will do better, and occupy that particular niche in triumph]. Middot Leave a comment. That's, um, quite a specialist.

Sometimes there is no man behind the curtain - Who am I to refuse the universe?

Ho · am · I. Middot; to · refuse · the · universe? Sometimes there is no man behind the curtain. T's not so surprising that lobbyists. Are offering to demonize Occupy Wall Street for money. That's their job, after all: latch on to whatever is happening, and demand cash to support or hinder or manipulate it. What's sweet is how fixated they are on finding some rich central backer pulling the strings. Maybe it's Soros? After all, these people wouldn't do anything unless they were being paid for it:.

Themic life - Sallys Journal. November 12th, 2012. Last night, on the coach back from Luton, I read squid314's post about a guy asking him for money for train tickets. It's a nice discussion of 'is this a scam, did he really want train tickets, did I do the right thing / wrong thing, it's all a bit finely balenced, I'll never really know'. Anyway, then I got home, and found out that pavanne had posted yet another similar story. November 12th, 2012 11:24 pm (UTC). November 12th, 2012 11:46 pm (UTC). Stopp...

December days: Programming language improvements. As a follow-up to my post about my personal history of programming languages. Asked me to expand on "which language(s) do you use most now (C and Python? And what improvements would you like to see in them? Mostly I do indeed use C and Python these days. I'm still comfortable enough in Perl and often reach for it particularly for shorter text-processing kinds of jobs (some of which grow a bit more than I'd intended. Recently, and was very impressed: it ma...

Uplift from SCCS to git - Tony Finch's blog

Uplift from SCCS to git - Tony Finchs blog. Uplift from SCCS to git. Laquo; previous entry. Next entry ». 27th Nov 2014 15:52. My current project is to replace Cambridge University's DNS servers. The first stage of this project is to transfer the code from SCCS to Git so that it is easier to work with. Ironically, to do this I have ended up spending lots of time working with SCCS and RCS, rather than Git. This was mainly developing analysis and conversion tools to get things into a fit state for Git.
