Casa Esmeralda is owned and operated by Esmeralda Fombona Valencia. She is the daughter of Jesus Valencia. Maury, the son of Esmeralda, is in charge of the property. The Valencia Family has been living on the beach at Saladita long before the first surfer arrived. Almost all of the property and houses facing the wave are owned by a Valencia brother or sister. What is the surf like? When is the surf biggest/smallest/best? The most consistent surf is April through October. Storms in New Zealand, Australia and Antarctica are the best source of waves for Saladita. Though all the beaches will pick up. The surf is smaller in winter. December, January and February are the smallest months, but an occasional swell makes it through. Afternoon surf is rare due to wind. The windiest months are, March, April, May and June.
