The Face that Launched a Dozen T-shirts – CASE & POINT
https://caseandpoint.wordpress.com/2015/04/25/the-face-that-launched-a-dozen-t-shirts
Case for/point of the big stuff, small stuff and stuff. I’m Not an Artist. On the Road Again. The Face that Launched a Dozen T-shirts. Yes, THIS face. Christmas morning, my excited three-year-old nephew tore through the gifts. My one-year-old niece was clueless but she was excited about all the ripping of paper and tossing of bags. When the kids demolished the wrapping to find t-shirts with their. The niece and nephew. The shirt was NOT a hit. My brother-in-law wants to get in on the action. Props to Dea...
24 Hour Project – CASE & POINT
https://caseandpoint.wordpress.com/2014/03/23/the-24-hour-project
Case for/point of the big stuff, small stuff and stuff. I’m Not an Artist. On the Road Again. Yesterday, March 22, I participated in the 24 Hour Project. Taken in Moscow at 6am local time by photographer Grant Slater. And I can’t wait to have another go at it next year when I’m more spry. I think I sort of used up the majority of my sit-in-a-chair battery life during the lunch but I was still able to remain seated through my singing lesson afterwards without fidgeting (too much). A huge landmark on t...
Projection by Vincent Lamouroux – CASE & POINT

Case for/point of the big stuff, small stuff and stuff. I’m Not an Artist. On the Road Again. Projection by Vincent Lamouroux. I decided that 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon was as good a time as any as to clock out, turn on some Stromae and settle into “me” time with a glass of sangria, a bag of plantain chips and cheese left over from the night before. The uncharacteristically gloomy LA weather has something to do with the shadow of ennui and my wanting to get cozy, I think. Click to share on Tumblr (Open...

Case for/point of the big stuff, small stuff and stuff. I’m Not an Artist. On the Road Again. You Can’t Until You Can. I created ktownismytown.com. KTown Is My Town. After the Instagram hashtag. I created — continues to develop. Even though it may be slow-going at times (procrastination and everyday life never go away), knowing that there are eyes on me will be the motivation I need to keep on truckin’. Find out more about. KTown Is My Town. This post also appears on ktownismytown.com. March 26, 2015.

Case for/point of the big stuff, small stuff and stuff. I’m Not an Artist. On the Road Again. I visited Julian with my family a few weeks ago. About an hour east of San Diego, Julian was originally a gold-mining town and is now a popular mountain getaway famous for its apple pie. The family mostly chilled out, though there was certainly eating of apple pie and mining for gold. March 23, 2016. The first and only other time I visited Tate Britain. March 18, 2016. Faetryn Emoting: March 2009
http://faetryn.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Mar 28, 2009. I never thought that depression would cause me to fear fiction books, but that's what happened. I first became aware of this when my friend said that during his depression, he couldn't bring himself to read anything new. His remark startled me since this friend is the most voracious reader I know. But that's him. I thought. Well, as it turns out, I have that disease also. I haven't read any new fiction work - I tried - Chabon's Yiddish Policemen Union. Mar 25, 2009. Lent: in the middle of it.

Jun 27, 2009. Yes, I loved his stuff when I was growing up. Yes, he was one of the most successful and excellent entertainers. Yes, we wore out that tape of his Billie Jean performance at the Motown anniversary show - when he premiered the moonwalk. Oh my gosh, what was that? Yes, I knew every word (and I still do, apparently), to "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "I'll Be There." His singing was remarkable. No, of course I didn't know him, but I sort of did. You know what I mean? Jun 17, 2009. In the B...

Jul 2, 2007. Suji, my mother's helper/driver, went up to shake his hand and say hello. I teased my grandpa, "Do you know who this is? He looked at S, then back at me, "Mom's driver." We all smiled and nodded. Suji pointed to me and said, "Tuan, who is. Grandpa, still looking at Suji, pointed to me and said, ". Suji laughed, ". What a great word! Indeed. It's not everyday language. It's poetic. My grandma overheard and laughed. "He still remembered! So off I go again. Awwwthat got me teary eyed.

Dec 7, 2009. Jesus once said we are salt and light of the earth. Not SHOULD be, or could be, or can be, or will be. We are. Which makes me nervous. Because it means there's nothing I can do about it. Nothing I need to work on, or strategize, or learn. It's not anything I can train for, rehearse for, or practice on. I don't get to write a draft and edit later, or research and then come up with a strategy. I get nervous and antsy when there's nothing to accomplish. Salty And I am. Because all this while I ...

Jan 21, 2010. Happy new year, all. But - gosh - I do like a sweet prose like this one I read this morning, a short paragraph from Frederick Buechner's Magnificent Defeat:. I like the power it has to move me. I like reading a well written paragraph or chapter that flows from one point to the other, one that ends in a different place from where it starts and leaves you in this mysterious high place. I like that it held my breath for the entire thing. I like a good cadence. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Aweso...

Faetryn Emoting: Jesus had died
http://faetryn.blogspot.com/2010/04/jesus-had-died.html
Apr 3, 2010. Excerpt from Joan Chittister, The Liturgical Year, from Holy Saturday chapter. So good, thought I'd share with you. Read it slowly, read it again. Read it and recall Jesus' followers on that Sabbath day after he died, how they must've felt and what they've lost. What is hope when there is no one left now in whom hope can be guaranteed? There is hope that we will eventually cease calling only what we ourselves want as "good" and begin to recognize that good can come in strange guises, in shep...

Mar 9, 2010. I've been watching a lot of films lately, courtesy of my friend's screeners (that's industry-speak for free DVDs distributed to members of the various unions/guilds in the entertainment. A perk of being in Los Angeles, for sure). So, knowing some of you may not be so blessed with free opportunities, here's a quick rundown of my take on a few the films:. Julie and Julia -. Watch it. Nov 22, 2009. To the fullness and to the emptiness. My small group is currently going through "The Magnificent Defeat" - a collection of sermons by Frederick Buechner. He is one of my favorite writers because not only does he have a beautiful prose, he has depth. He probes. He has a wonderful way of looking at things, then he has a way of making you look at them too. I love that. I want that. Nov 18, 2009. Because we are not superhuman. Nov 15, 2009. The Dalpias Family
Casey, Natalie, Benson and Molly. Monday, June 11, 2012. About being the mom. I've told this story before, so please excuse me if you've heard it. Being a mom of 3 is a little different. Everyone asks if it's harder, and yeah, it is more work for sure. but mostly, it's just different. There is another mouth to feed and another bottom to wipe, more laundry, more dishes, and somehow less time. After all I do, or try to do. why do I feel so overwhelmed and inadequate? Casey, Rachel, Isaiah, and Brooklyn Davis
Casey, Rachel, Isaiah, and Brooklyn Davis. Thursday, July 17, 2014. Lee Roy Parsons carving a violin. The violin I was given was in pretty rough shape. It was basically just the main body missing all of the other pieces. The picture below is similar to what it looked like when I got it (though lighter in color). Inside the body of the violin there is an old sticker that has the signature, "Lee Roy Parsons". It turned out great! Everyone (except Brooklyn :) is excited to make some music! Tom and Jen Lovel...
