Just a small town girl. May 20, 2016. I’m sure brides feel extremely excited on their wedding day. I think the emotion I felt this morning topped that. I’m a first-generation Mexican immigrant from a low income family graduating from the University of Texas at Austin today. Statistics said all along I wouldn’t have made it this far. I say we did it because I would be nowhere near crossing that stage without the help of my parents, friends, educators and mentors. My heart swells with so much happiness.
