Edspired | Global Education Consultancy – Giving Thanks

I had the great pleasure of visiting a variety of schools this past month. I love to capture what I see, hear, and experience especially in the hallways and when no one knows I am observing! Here are some highlights:. Watching young children (3-6 year olds) eagerly choose a book to read while waiting in the lobby to be picked up and invite their friends to come read with them. Working with teacher leaders. Observing a Socratic Seminar. Observing an elementary school math lesson where students were workin...

Reem Labib’s knowledge of the opportunities and challenges that charter schools face is broad and deep. As the Executive Director of a new school, I found that her historical perspective of charter school management in Washington, DC was invaluable and that her work as a school leader and contractor for various governing bodies and organizations yields a level of authenticity that schools can take comfort in. She has seen it all and gets it! Dana Walker, Executive Director. Thank you for EVERYTHING Reem!

Currently, we live on different continents; so collaborating is no easy task. Initially, we started out simple: smartphones, WhatsApp. And phone calls. Then we progressed to Skype. Since there is no need to pay for calls when we can talk for free! Skype was funny and Dad had lots of questions. But after the first few times, he quickly became a pro. To complicate the above, I created a shared folder in Dropbox. Can you see the document? August 30th, 2012. Share This Story, Choose Your Platform! Great work...

We are failing kids in DC and beyond, but DC really takes the cake for me today. It’s not the city per se…it’s what has been allowed to happen over and over again. School doesn’t meet the needs of a student. Student has challenges inside and outside of the classroom impacting their ability to learn. Student gets fed up, and drops out. Another one bites the dust. My biggest fear now, is that we go, register, he attends for a short time, and becomes frustrated and drops out for good. What would you do?

I waited for the teacher to turn around before I snapped the pic. I didn’t want her to know that seeing this caused me have an ulcer for the day.
