http://www.searchingforthegold.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 15 July 2014. Are you a risk-taker? This question takes no amount of deliberation for me - I am not a risk-taker in any shape or form. I married one and that's about as close as I am every going to get! Last week, I had the pleasure of spending some time with a family from within our church community. For me, Sam and Hannah Fairs-Billam. So here's the challenge.are the rest of us prepared to do this? God might not be calling you or me to move our family out to another part of the world but He de...

Searching for the Gold: You're My Favourite

Wednesday, 11 February 2015. Are you a Strictly fan? Remember how dear old Brucie would turn to every. Couple after completing their dance and say "you're my favourite". In a slightly patronising but endearing way? One that only Brucie could get away with! It became a bit of a catchphrase, an 'in' joke and everyone began to recognise it as just that - a joke. Here are a few symptoms that rear their head, when I am putting people's approval above God. A reluctance to share my views, particularly my faith.

Searching for the Gold: December 2014
http://www.searchingforthegold.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 24 December 2014. Has Christmas got the better of you this year? I honestly feel that for me, it has. I've stressed over making memories. I've worried about what everyone else is doing and what perhaps I should. Be baking/making/buying. I've got angry with courier companies who have not delivered presents when they promised to. I've overlooked the real meaning of Christmas. But it's not too late. Today is Christmas Eve and I'm going to spend some time with Jesus. As we watch the last n...Inter...

Searching for the Gold: September 2013
http://www.searchingforthegold.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 4 September 2013. Throughout our school days, if we're not competing for class captain or the lead role in the end of term play, we are looking to be the most popular child in the playground. As we move into adulthood, we are encouraged to compete for that promotion at work or to out-bid others in the quest for our perfect home. We are bombarded and almost conditioned into believing that life is one long competition. So how do we put a stop to the unhealthy side of competition? Beth Moore enco...

Searching for the Gold: November 2013
http://www.searchingforthegold.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 13 November 2013. As a child I was a worrier, forever in search of a safe place, somewhere to hide. I often plumped for behind my mum's skirt, a suitable shield to protect me from the big wide world and any adult who might attempt to make conversation! For some reason, this morning I was reminded of those childhood fears. I'm not sure why those memories popped into by head, but I used the opportunity to question whether I still harbour an infantile yearning for safety and security? Psalm 91 v ...

Searching for the Gold: April 2013
http://www.searchingforthegold.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, 11 April 2013. Why is it that when we're having fun, time seems to pass at an alarmingly fast pace, yet when we are longing for something to end, it ticks by so incredibly slowly? In my world, time is always. Of the essence - time to squeeze in that last job before picking the kids up, just enough time to enjoy a cuppa with a friend, is there time to make that phone call? When I choose badly, the days when I'm rushing, chasing and striving, 'time' looks and feels like this:. Run by some ladies ...

Searching for the Gold: A Simple Story
http://www.searchingforthegold.com/2014/04/a-simple-story.html
Friday, 18 April 2014. Do you know the real meaning of Easter? Not the bank holidays, the cute little chicks or the giant bunny (what exactly is that all about anyway? Who delivers our chocolate. But the message of new life and hope, that comes as a free gift? Do you know why Jesus, the son of God came to this earth? Jesus didn't come in order to remain a tiny baby, born in a stable for us all to cherish and coo over. Although I'm sure he was cute, babies don't exactly do a lot do they? Why did Jesus die?

Searching for the Gold: Living Life to the Full
http://www.searchingforthegold.com/2014/01/living-life-to-full.html
Sunday, 5 January 2014. Living Life to the Full. Being the first Sunday of a new year, our church meeting this morning was highly charged with expectation and excitement for what God has in store for the next 365 days. As I stood in worship, the words ' live life to the full. Came to mind. Probably obvious words for someone who embraces the challenge of a new year and making resolutions. Very quickly however, I connected them with the above verse found in John's gospel:. May 2014 be a year which you look...
