I am Cate. I am a photographer. Thank you for visiting. I have been taking pictures for years and decided to keep a photo journal of my shots. Though I was originally trained in film photography today I choose the digital format. I shoot with a Canon 5D MKII at the moment and have a variety of different lenses. My current lens of choice is my 17-40mm. I am not ashamed to admit that I am not a purist when it comes to photography. Photoshop and Lightroom are my post processors of choice. I have been out of practice and out of “motivation” for a long time. Motivation is such an easy excuse for doing or not doing something. I think on the negative end it’s bull. Be honest with yourself. Why did you not exercise? Photographs are what you make of them. Whether it be an awe inspiring sunset or the light filtering through your bedroom window. Just pick up the camera already. What about the thousands of pictures you have already taken? I am teaching myself new editing/post-processing techniques...

Thursday, April 30, 2009. Originally uploaded by Orchid Photo. This is the edge of a really cool water fountain outside a Dr. office I visited yesterday. Apparently I have gotten over people staring at me taking photos, because I sat down on the sidewalk and snapped away for at least 20 minutes. I took a whole bunch of photos because I couldn't tell on the LCD if the drops were in focus. I also wanted to get some good bokeh in the background. I think this is a success :). Playing with my new 50mm lens!

I can't draw or paint, so I rarely make anything. I wanted to get a close-up to show the texture of the paper, and how the ink ran together and spread. I think it came out pretty well. KC is a Seal.
