http://catesword.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Sharing the things I learn. Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Rendering in CET Designer is a hot topic for me these days. A lot of my time in training is spent on it and I've been showing some of my students this nifty way to create Ghost Panels. It's very similar to the process you use for the SketchUp look but with a twist. Here is the result:. I created a short video with the steps if you'd like to watch it. Hope this works for you. Sharing the things I learn. Friday, August 30, 2013. Back to School Special! Two tips in one post. Hi friends, I've taken the summer off from posting but with school about to start I thought it would be time for me to start sharing with you again. First, a surprise new feature was added to blocks this month (or maybe it was a bug fixed, I don’t really know). You can apply materials from schemes to blocks now without editing them! Try it. Or watch the video, I’ll demo it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sharing the things I learn. Wednesday, March 7, 2012. New Configura CET Tip. I haven't had much to share lately but today I want to tell you about a CET trick I discovered when I was testing. Updating multiple alternatives at the same time. Lots of people ask me if they can make changes to all their alternative at once and I have always said no. But I found a work around using Blocks. Here are the steps:. Draw your room in one of your alternatives. Select the whole room and right click to pick Make Block.

Sharing the things I learn. Tuesday, April 17, 2012. I am always looking for resources for great materials to use in rendering. Configura. Has a nice zip file on their web site that you can download. It's on the documentation. Page But there isn't quite enough choices. Another resource I found was on my own hard drive! Files which give AutoCAD the texture information, others are Mask. Cate's Word: November 2011
http://catesword.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Sharing the things I learn. Thursday, November 24, 2011. I've been thinking about the user experience lately. And I've come to the conclusion: It's amazing what you can get used to. Case in point. CET. Changed the behavior of the Schemes dialog pop up box. It used to pop up in the upper right hand corner but now it remembers where it was last and pops up there. This is so much nicer. I forgot that it bugged me and I simply got used to it. My challenge to you is, UNITE. You need to make yourself a thorn i...

http://catesword.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Sharing the things I learn. Monday, October 28, 2013. If you've been in one of my classes you've probably heard me say, "It's subtle, not random". I get a lot of very frustrated users telling me how their computer or software does this crazy thing and they can't figure it out. Many times I know exactly what is causing it. One of the reasons I love training is to see the ah-ha moment. That moment when I explain "when you do this, that happens" and the student's eyes light up as they "get it". A few months...

Cate's Word: New CET 3.2 rendering technique
http://catesword.blogspot.com/2012/11/new-cet-32-rendering-technique.html
Sharing the things I learn. Monday, November 26, 2012. New CET 3.2 rendering technique. No longer need the "white room" to render! It's been a while since I posted and a lot has happened. I'll get to that later. But for now, my friends, the best new thing in CET 3.2 is a little check box called Emissive background. Here is an example:. I've made a short video to get you started. As always, I appreciate your feedback and comments. Enjoy! November 27, 2012 at 7:09 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
