Yesterday, I accidentally walked for about 20 min. amidst the ranks of the marching band, sandwhiched between the drummers and the brass section. No one seemed to care. Catherine's Adventures in Chile. Saturday, July 11, 2009. Traveling: here I come. So this last week has been spent saying goodbye to Chilean friends/family/acquaintances. One of my friends made fun of me the other day because as he pointed out I've had a "goodbye" dinner or celebration basically every night for the last 2 weeks for some friend or acquaintance. Unfortunately, he forgot that we have a psychotic microwave that randomly turns itself on whenever it feels like it and runs for 10-15 minute intervals. The Chileans had a four-day weekend to celebrate the navy’s glories at sea (not sure if said glories are numerous enough to merit such a long holiday, but we’ll roll with it), so Victor, Catherine, and I extended our break to five days and headed south and east to Bariloche, Argentina for some hiking.
