The birding journal: A day of luck

Sunday, February 19, 2012. A day of luck. After Grandview cemetery we headed over to sharp point creek. We decided to look for Brewer's blackbirds. We found those and a red-winged blackbird. After that we headed over to Timnath reservoir to see if we could find a pheasant or rough-legged hawk. We had no luck but we were able to get a Western Meadowlark and 3 horned lark. Later we were heading behind the Walmart on harmony to see what they had at the pond. OMG! February 19, 2012 at 7:51 PM.

Monday, March 5, 2012. I asked a fellow bird watcher if I could borrow his spotting scope. I focused in on the bird, and son of a Nutcracker. I found a short-eared owl staring dead centered at me. 4 new birds and a big year list coming close to about 90. This was a spectacular day! Friday, March 16, 2012. Today I went down to the Thompson river and found a steller's Jay in a tree and a greater SCAUP on the river. Right when we were leaving I looked up and identified a eastern pheobe. The eastern pheobe was also seen by another birder the same day.
