I joined up with the Enterprise Ireland Food Programme last month, which I am sure will be invaluable help to me in the next stage of furthering my business empire! My WWOOFer never materialised, but quite unexpectedly a couple also from the US, arrived last week and have been helping to get my kitchen and cafe garden in order. The rain last night has really helped and it would be such a good thing if the sunny days and rainy nights continue.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010. The vets were over on the island yesterday testing cattle for TB, a friend and farmer, Patrick Leonard had his index finger crushed in an unfortunate accident with an agitated bull. The island nurse, Siobhan, did what she could and recommended he head for a hospital. The ferry was 20 minutes away on its way back to Baltimore, so no joy there. The sun is continuing to blaze away, long may it last - mid September would be nice! It's so good to be appreciated. Monday, May 24, 2010.

Thursday, June 24, 2010. Terry off the Telly. Exciting news, Terry Wogan is landing on the island today with a film crew. Do hope to get to meet this wonderfully warm witty man. Friday, June 18, 2010. A Whale of a time. We have an (estimated) 8 metre Basking Shark doing the plankton-hoovering rounds just outside the north harbour here. He has been very obliging to the passengers on the ferry, following closely behind them and giving them plenty of photo ops. No whale blubber will appear on the menu, but plenty of other fishy things will indeed. The good weather is meant to carry on, so perhaps it might just stick around until September!
