While a "Sidewinder", he made two combat deployments in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM along with a surge deployment all aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65). FLEET and FAMILY SUPPORT. The "Fist of the Fleet" emblem is known around the world: A black fist clenching a red lightning bolt on a field of gold wreathed with four stars. Each star represents participation in a war in which VFA-25 has flown aircraft in combat: WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Middle East. VFA-25 recently requested to return the insignia back to its pre-July 1983 emblem, with the inclusion of the fourth battle star from Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
