台灣的人口結構己呈現迅速老化的趨勢，以致老人因照顧問題所衍生出的不幸事件層出不窮 為了避免這類不幸問題的一再發生，本基金會於民國８９年２月２６日 成立了專為獨居老人服務的愛心服務隊，目前有近百位志工在全省各地服務，許多長者亦因我們的居家服務，而能在自己家中得到適切的照顧與關懷，然而，面對老 人人口激增，淨覺愛心服務隊需要更多專業的居家服務員，共同投入這項有意義的工作.

另外，即使有意願入住安養護機構者，也因設施設備不足，及照護品質的良莠不齊，所提供的照護服務並不如理想 有鑑於此，淨心長老在繼創辦淨覺育幼院之後， 於民國８７年７０歲壽誕時，基於回饋社會及提昇老人照護品質的理念，又發願籌建 淨覺老人養護中心。 但淨心長老有感創設一所老人安養護機構，也只能照顧 少數老人，在社會中還有成千上萬的老人無法獲得妥善的關懷與照顧，為了讓照護工作嘉惠更多的老人，遂於民國８９年成立了 淨覺愛心服務隊 ，計劃以養謢中 心做為主體，組成愛心服務隊，訓練志工，到社區中對需要照顧的老人，提供居家關懷與照顧，以普遍落實照顧老人的工作。 淨覺老人養護中心籌建過程中遭受諸多的困難，申請設立時也受到法令的重重規定，幾經波折，終於在阿蓮區復安里購買一塊合適的土地，在獲得當地居民認同後， 於９２年４月４日 農曆２月２２日 星期四，舉行動土儀式，並於同年的１０月４日正式動工興建。

於民國 八十七年 １９９８ 六月十二日所創設，以舉辦社會福 利慈善事業為宗旨，為照顧老弱無依貧病之老人，擬附設 淨覺老人養護中心 ，雖積極投入籌建工作的準備，但因緣不具足加上合宜工地難覓，直到今年三月於阿 蓮鄉復安村處，總算找到了一塊適合的地點，刻正加緊推動的腳步，將於正式成立籌建委員會，邀集專業加入籌建工作的行列，期望早日完成符合國際水準的養護中 心。
